smg15 Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I plan to "Under sell " myself in my profile so I can set the open and honest tone from the beginning. So I will be honest about my weight and use pics that reveals I have thinning hair along with a upbeat essay I decided to do this because I been promoting my height at 6'4 but not explaining that I am tall and heavy. Also most of my pics did not reveal I had thinning hair which mean have surprised a few girls i met. That way it won't be any surprises when they see me and I will be less nervous. I think that is the main reason why I been nervous on dates because I knew that my thinning hair and weight was on display and still hoping she overlooked it. So I fault myself for not being honest and trying to hide things and now want to tell the truth. It may mean less messages but when I do talk to someone I know that my flaws won't be a big deal. 6

Look for a celebrity who has your body type and copy what he is wearing and how he poses. Use Rogaine and take Viviscal tablets to slow down or even stop your hair loss.

It started 7 years ago and been pretty much the same since then. I don't have a huge issue with it because I have nice hair but I just decided to make it known in my pics in 2015 1

Seriously you can get away with it just get a good cut close to the scalp depending on how bad it is and away you go. As for being over weight - again lucky you - you have height to carry it off... Focus on your good qualities not your bad. Go out and do some thing other than OLD so you have something to talk about... Lastly don't get too hooked up with it. Its not the only way to meet new people. Go and talk to people, smile and be friendly. You will meet loads of people that way. Try speed dating for a laugh. Try sports, try yoga, try anything and everything you have ever wanted to do... Good luck.

I can tell you right now that if I had met any of the men I messaged in real life I could charm the pants off of them in seconds. If they spent an hour in my company they would leave feeling on top of the world regardless of whether it was going to develop into anything because in real life that is the effect I tend to have on people. Have any of them responded? Nope. Not one. A couple have looked at my profile but that is it. OLD sucks. I am not pinning any hopes on it at all. I am concentrating on going out and meeting people instead. Its there as an "extra" and I log on every couple of days, perhaps send a message or two a week but I am not going to judge myself on the responses I do or do not get from it. I will judge myself on the way folk light up and smile when they see me even when I am in a pi55y mood. I will judge myself on the opinions of my close friends and family... If you are getting good responses in person perhaps concentrate on that rather than OLD?

Online there are so many options that its hard not to raise your standards quite a bit. I'm kinda glad I'm not very photogenic too as its nice to meet people and have them tell me I look better in person. 1

Recently I tweaked my OLD profile to list my less endearing qualities up front and so far it's gone over quite well. It doesn't seem to have to deterred anyone from getting in touch, in fact a lot think it's pretty funny. I'll be curious to see how it goes for you.

I've been in the opposite situation, where a guy I went on a date with had obviously hidden the fact that he was probably a good 40 pounds heavier than his main profile photo. Talk about misleading! Even though I thought he was nice and had a lot of other good qualities in person, the fact that he hid such a large part of himself (no pun intended) was really off-putting and something ultimately that I couldn't get over. I'm not even sure it would have been such a big deal if I'd know he was that large to begin with (I date all types), but it's the fact that he hid it that really sank the deal for me. You're right. You may get fewer messages, but those who you do communicate with will have more genuine interest.

Danda Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I took a similar approach recently when I tried to get a hookup from online. I was one of those extremely obnoxious women who would respond to ads or make my own, chat a guy up for a few days and then vanish, because I would feel so insecure that once he saw me he'd never respond again or something. The poor guys probably thought I was just being a troll to them or something, but really I was just so flippin afraid of getting rejected for being ugly. Finally took a chance and sent a guy I found attractive some really honest pics of myself, braced myself cringing and then he would up coming over and we fooled around for several hours, he was hard almost the whole time. However I've also been rejected for my looks before, too. I think experiencing both - pursuit and rejection in response to your full-blown honest appearance - is really good for confidence overall. Basically allows you to experience firsthand how subjective attraction can be and to never take it personally.

She saw several photos of me, we did some form of Skype, even uploaded a video of myself doing car related stuff, that way she knew exactly who she was about to meet. Not trying to hi-jack the thread, in fact I may have missed this somewhere, but which site are you guys talking about exactly? Just any dating site in general?
