Why does she go out of her way to add insult to injury?

I saw my Ex to pick up my kid today. The pick up went smooth enough but at the very end she got in a dig at me, referencing a moment in our past she knows I'm ashamed of and insinuating it will be better with her new boyfriend. I behaved poorly at a sporting event and we had to leave early because we got in a fight. Now she's going to the same sporting event with her new boyfriend and she referenced the time we went and how's she's excited to go and stay for the whole game. That day was a long time ago, I apologized profusely, explained where the behavior came from and made changes so it was never repeated. She already said she doesn't want to be with me. I haven't spoken about it since the day it happened, haven't been begging or pleading or telling her I love her. We only talk about the kid, but she still cries and yells to me how heartbroken she is that she's losing her best friend. Now she just has to get this little dig in at me? I'm probably being over sensitive but why go there? She has her new boyfriend, she should be happy, why take the time to remind me of my mistakes? To top it all off, she introduced the new guy to my kid last night. Coping sucks...but I didn't acknowledge her comment. I didn't want to give her the satisfaction of a reaction.

They all do it mate just ignore it, I think they do it to justify and keep justifying what they have done, seems like they need to do that as they obviously don't have the confidence or self esteem to be certain of what they have done, next time she does it just smile at her and walk away that will get her back up more than you will ever know, after all nobody ever got in trouble by saying nothing did they ?, what is it you call it in the US the 5th amendment is it ?
