Oh God Me85 :( :( I didn't know you went through that as well. I am so sorry... Does a virtual Hug count as 'action'?? :)

And that supports what another poster wrote about the languages sometimes changing based on experiences.

You are now #1 with Acts of Service and Quality Time maybe?

Hugs darlin'

Oh thank you! I'm not a victim. I stayed when I should've left. I really have only myself to blame. That awful experience made me all that much more stronger and bad@$$. But thank you very much! A virtual hug definitely counts as an action. lol Hugs back to ya!

Yes, I'd have to cast my vote as being #1 with quality time

...acts of service...eh? Not so much, really.

You must be close to my virtual twin with our experiences. ..

Quality time and acts of service are tied at first for me. Which, when I think about it, makes ALOT of sense.

The little gestures are what really got to me. Knowing I'd want a shower after work, so he'd have a towel running in the dryer to have it warm when I got out of the shower. Stuff like that really gets to me

Following quality time and acts of service, came words, touch, then gifts.

Hahaha

Me being so independent and caring so little about material things, acts of service just isn't necessary for me. I just want a guy who wants me and only me, who will be faithful to me and who will never ever verbally or physically abuse me. Ever. And who won't compete with me, or run off after petty disagreements. I've dated immature, selfish, mama's boys in the past. None of them grew up with a Father...I mean, I definitely had a pattern. Lesson learned after 3 RSs that were basically all the same. (except only the last one was volatile) I finally get it, God! lol

Talk to me, spend time with me, and canoodle with me. Only act of service you need to provide is get naked with me from time-to-time. I don't need gifts.

The questions in the quiz pertained to how I view receiving gifts. I don't need gifts to be happy with a woman. But, ironically, I have no problem with giving gifts as an extension of my affections. I'm a giving man, in more ways than expected. Except for herpes (and any other STD). I don't have any of that to give, fortunately. :)

Oh my gosh you are so funny!!

Interesting enough though, I WANT to know how another perzon receives love then make it my mission to be as creative as possible in showing them in those ways!

It's fun and means so much*

While words are low on my needs, they are easy for me to demonstrate. I do enjoy showing love that way, but don't crave it in return. Is that odd?

The one I'd struggle to demonstrate is "gifts".

I think my husband would struggle to demonstrate "words".

I don't think that's odd.

In fact, for me, it's only natural to identify and explore the love language of those I care about.

For instance, I don't really care about receiving gifts, but I enjoy giving them ...... especially when I know how important it is to that person.

Oh, I like a creative woman that discovers new ways to show her affection for me. I appreciate such gestures very much. Send your creativity my way. ;)

It's all part of the understanding of the languages and how we often times differ from them. It doesn't make it a bad or difficult thing so long as both are showing love to the other in the way they best see and feel it. It is fun and creative and something that can bond two people together so intimately. Many of us love the opposite from us (or diagonal... whichever)*, so instead of struggling with wondering why don't they get it etc... both need to LEARN the other person*

So, if I were to show you, Frank2thepoint, affection so you would know it I would.... nope. Not gonna say it. lol* :p

I've read the book but hadn't actually taken the test in a long time. I'm surprised by how high "Acts of Service" turned out to be, for me. Of course I knew Words of Affirmation would be my number one, and it still is, by far. :) I do like Quality Time but I think what it comes down to is what actually makes me feel special and loved.

The downside is of course that "Words of Affirmation" are not my H's strong suit. He's an Acts of Service guy, all the way. But the subtlety comes in when you're considering what an Act of Service entails - I think it means anticipating what your partner would like done, rather than what you would like done for you. So there's still a communication barrier there. Hm.

Eloquently put, and I concur with your point. Having the willingness to learn about each other, to learn a common language definitely makes the discovery more exciting.

You are teasing me. You can whisper it in my ear, I really want you to finish the sentence. ;)

I have no doubt in my mind when I meet my 'One' she will totally read my love language and I hers. Come to think of it, that would probably be a large part of making her the one...

*sigh*

If only the wait for the 'One' wouldn't be so damn loooooong (as in: counting the days, 11.297 so far :p). Oh well... probably makes it all the sweeter when I DO meet her.

Actions are of great importance, but how many people need coinciding words to truly be happy, and fulfilled, with their partner?

For me I need both ...... My primary love language is "Words of Affirmation".

I'm curious ...... What say you?

My primary ones (based on the test) are quality time and physical touch, they ranked the same for me and then I think words of affirmation was third in line.

Actions are important but I certainly cannot be with someone who never affirms me verbally. I like being told how my SO feels about me, I like them to compliment me, I like expressive men. I need actions and words. Not just empty words or actions only.
