I'm not sure if a thread like this has ever been started since I'm relatively new here but I'd figure I'd give it a shot.

For those who don't know me I'm in the middle of a very confusing break up and I've been bending the ear of my youngest sister a lot lately. Recently she asked me if I would rather go back in time 1 year or forward. The stipulation was if I go back in time I have zero knowledge of what I know now. My ex and I dated for almost 8 months that's why she gave me 1 year. I wish she would have given me more then a year since I was best friends with my ex for over a year before we started dating but none the less here was what I told her.

I'd go forward. For 2 reasons....

1. If I'd go back 1 year I still would have known my ex and every time I replay that situation I'd always end up with her. Even though she threw out a very big red flag to me the night we made it official.

2. Going forward 1 year will answer one big question I have right now...How long am I going to feel like dog crap?

Just curious how others feel, my sister's question and how I've answered it had me thinking lately.

I try not to concern myself too much with thoughts of the present or the past. Because we live in the present, that is what I focus on the most. Sure I keep track of the past, and try to learn from it, and for the future, I try to plan a better one for myself.

However, there are so many things that you cannot control about your future. No matter how you plan it, you could end up somewhere totally different from where you thought you'd be. I like to think that I go with the flow and do whatever I can and want now.

Those are just my thoughts.
