A friend of mine just lost his current girlfriend to her ex. I told him about this site but he was too embarrassed to register so he asked me to help.

Quick story...He was dating this girl for roughly 9 months. They hit it off great. In fact it was similar to the way my ex and I were. We all went out a few times and both girls hit it off, which was cool since he is a good friend of mine. Well 2 weeks ago he was dumped for reasons unknown until yesterday. Apparently this girl was still friends with her ex, which she told him about right up front. Yesterday he found out she's been seeing her ex more frequently over the past 2 weeks. In fact her ex was just dumped by his girlfriend about a week ago. I guess her and her ex are back together,

This girl and her ex broke up 6 years ago. His question....Is it possible he was a rebound from this guy even though it's been 6 years since they dated?

I don't know how to answer this. Is there a time frame that qualifies a rebound? I understand if they recently broke up but 6 years seems like a long time for him to be the rebound especially since she's dated a few guys over the past 6 years. She dated her ex for about 4 years prior to their breakup, not sure if that helps at all.

No, your friend was not a rebound. She just still had feelings for her ex, and never let go. Apparently it was mutual, since they are together again.

This is a touchy subject, but to provide my personal opinion, I would not have proceeded into a relationship with someone that remained friends, and kept contact with their ex. Too often, an ex being in the picture causes lots of friction in a relationship. So your friend learned a hard lesson. Let him know to avoid such girls in the future.
