windows Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Just how important are common interests in a relationship? I've just started seeing a someone and there are a few things I have a little worry over. For example, she doesn't like boardgames, but me and my friends love board games. Or, we have different senses of humour. I love really daggy puns and she doesn't. How important are these differences in the long run?
Bfef Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 I personally don't mind if there are few common interests but my last (ex) girlfriend did. She eventually came to the conclusion that we didn't have much in common and left. Really it didn't bother me doing new stuff and just having neat experiences together but there you go!
d0nnivain Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 the sense of humor is more important then hobbies like board games. If you like somebody playing a board game once in a while even if it's not your thing is a kindness. It's OK & even healthy to have interests apart from each other. One of the keys is to find something you both like & doing that.
PegNosePete Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Common interests are definitely a big help, especiall in the initial stages of a relationship. But I would say that some individual interests are also very important in the long run. Every couple needs their time apart, even if it's just one evening a week.
