This is actually kind of funny.

About 2 weeks back, I was a guy's place (who I've been seeing for awhile) and he spotted something on my face (I'm guessing a booger). He told me stay still and actually wiped it off, saying to me "I'm doing this because I love you".

Naturally I was hugely embarrassed by the incident and was too busy checking myself out in the mirror right after so i didn't actually pay attention to what he said - I thought to myself it could be something he said so I wouldn't get embarrassed. I thought maybe it slipped out by mistake too so I didn't want to embarrass HIM.

Just thinking back, I wanted to know from you guys out there have ever said such a thing by mistake or not?

Just sounds more like an expression than a mistake. Sounds like something I would even tell a friend.

Yeah, it sounds more like a joke than a statement.

I'm a woman but the 1st time DH & I exchanged I love you's was very similar. He literally had just thrown up all over me, our friends & the back of her car. It was sooooo gross. As I jumped out of the car intending to run away from my relatively new & seriously embarrassed guy (because he had just met the friends who also got splattered) I called out over my shoulder as I was sprinting to the ladies' room of the truck stop "I love you but right now I gotta get away from you." I didn't mean it romantically but he responded "I love you too."
