Jet Lag Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Hey I used to do some work for my ex. The deal was I would get 10% of what he made from my bookings. In four or so years, I never invoiced him. I did the work because I loved him and I enjoyed the work. We have been broken up for a few months now (I no longer work for him). Some of the bookings are now current. Do I invoice him or just let it go as I have the last four years. Between now and March we are probably talking about $600.

Be honest- Are you more interested in the money, or are you looking for an excuse to contact him? Don't get me wrong, it IS the perfect excuse if you wish to contact him, and you are indeed entitled to that money...it is your money. But the thing is, are you really asking about the money, or is it because of both? :p Because if you just want the money, then yeah. If there is something else, besides the money, then you might as well go ahead, but just be carefull.

I would love to be with him but I could just post or email an invoice. I guess I also don't want to annoy him because, although I am doubting it will happen, I really want him back.
d0nnivain Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 I'd invoice the whole thing . . . everything you did from the beginning but then call him & say you will take some smaller current #. Do not put that offer in writing because he's going to try to negotiate down from where you start. If it was a bad break up & he doesn't pay you may be able to sue for breach of contract / unjust enrichment or report him to a labor board
CarrieT Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Do you have documentation to back-up the billings? If so, invoice him with no explanation or additional commentary. If not, leave it alone...
