I've been through some very serious heartbreak. I'm still coping and it hurts too see my ex with another man. However, I've been using the Tinder app as a confidence booster and I've been talking to a girl for a few days. Texting comes easy and I finally asked her out for a few drinks.

I've never been on a first date like this. I met my gf freshman year of college and for 4 years I never had to start fresh. I'm nervous but I need to force myself to go out there if I'm ever going to heal.

Any advice?

Just take it easy, treat her like a long lost friend, and get to know her.

Thats about it man.

Update, and let us know how it goes

Sorry to hear about your predicament....4yrs is a bit to see go down the drain, but that is college for you. She obviously felt the grass is greener, and decide to bail on you.

However, take your time and don't rush anything otherwise you will back at square one again i.e. heartbreak.

Presentation is everything, so make sure you show up looking good if you are not the type to naturally take an interest in how you dress. Your first meet is not a date, and more a "meet n greet" i.e. a relaxed form of interview.

If that goes well then you two can discuss together and come up with a proper first date. Personally, I never settle for the "you plan it nonsense", and instead want input from the other person so it doesn't turn out being my idea or what I want. Not that am NOT a planner, on the contrary as my day job requires me to be this and it just so happens that a planner naturally.
