I got the trifecta - mentioning the ex, commenting on another guy, joking for you to be just friends (which I take as literal from a girl). This and the other signs you'd get knowing that it was simply that feeling it was a waste of time to have gone out with her.

I don't regret it as obviously if I hadn't done it, who would have known. I guess it sucks as honestly at first I was not into the girl but everyone had kept coercing me to give her a go and I started to develop feelings for her and it capitulated with this night.

I use the post date message as a gauge of how things went and still have not received one so I'll take it as a no. I guess it sucks because it feels like I'm back to the drawing board again.

So what do you guys do after situations like this? How do you guys pick yourselves back up? I feel like just sleeping but my mind keeps racing and I can't stop thinking about her and yet I don't want her or know it'd never work out.

Did you make those faux pas or did she talk about the EX & say let's be friends?

If it was her, you pick yourself up, dust yourself off & write her off.

If you did those things, you take some time off from dating & try again when you are truly ready.

Call another girl you're interested in. Go out and enjoy yourself. Don't invest emotions in anyone you first start dating. Simply treat the dates as a night out, no pressure.

Thanks Donni,

The ex was only mentioned when we were talking about an island place we'd both been to (she'd only gone with an ex then). He was never mentioned again.

The guy was mentioned because he was abnormally tall although I could not tell if she was simply saying it as if she was attracted to him (after all the girl I was dating was taller than me - although shoes here helped me stay same height as her)

And lastly the 'friend' part was mentioned when we joked about supporting opposite basketball teams and not able to be friends because of it.

Now add that to awkward pauses at times, crossed arms and seeming agitated, her I think being awkward with us holding hands as we walked (she pulled away once the opportunity presented itself) and the fact that she went to hug as I went to kiss (kissed her cheek), I think things just blew.

She's young and I don't think has the dating experience but is it not that things will be easy if things are suppose to work out?

It's her.

Holding hands is a bit much on a 1st date.

The hug / kiss / miss is a function of a 1st date & not by itself a deal breaker

Unless there is something truly extraordinary about her, I don't think she's it for you.

Do you guys think I should still send a message to check up on her though? I mean if you've read the previous thread about 'tips on dating tall chicks' you guys will know she's the one whom was chasing me for a while and I will be seeing her around university where she made herself known to me.
