For you, leaves on autumn.

Wasn't the video I'd prefer but it's close enough. (You'll want to get more depth than she's doing in that vid, to learn great form. It will save your knees down the road.)

That's awesome, thank you so much!

My second issue is getting distracted and by a certain point, I can feel that I'm doing it wrong. Maybe I should watch myself in a mirror until it becomes habitual?

Damn girl, dat booty.

Stop for a second if you feel your concentration is slipping. Ie don't just churn out the reps, if you feel you are losing control over your form, stop for a few seconds, mentally regroup and start again.

What do you get distracted by? That it doesn't feel right? Also, I wouldnt use a mirror if possible. It can distract you terribly by taking focus away from the lift.

Ideally, it never hurts to get a squat mate/partner to tell you how things look.

Doing one leg workout per week. Hoping to add 10 lbs (4.53592 kg for subjects of her majesty) to my squat each week for the first month. We'll see.

That's probably it, I wonder if I'm doing it right while I'm doing them and then get discouraged.

People dont like to squat, IMO, beacause its difficult to breathe, can be hard on the back, and, well, they arent that much fun...Heavy leg presses are the same for me...Ive gotten light headed several times...Its just hard to breathe, for me..

I love the movement....Its a full body exercise, and the core benefits are well documented..Its great for hips and glutes as well..

They (squats) just seem to match certain people bodies a bit easier. Those either through long dedicated training or natural flexibility who can keep a straighter back down to parallel or more seem to be much more comfortable with them. I grew up a deadlifts from waist level and up lol. I should do more deadlifts again. The GF added some Deadlifts to her routine again and it helped her reach her new peak squat level.

True....

Being short and compact really pays dividends for these movements...Im only 5'6" and packed...When I see a lanky 6'3" guy get into the rack and do a squat, he looks like a frog or a swiss army knife folding up......I feel the pain and discomfort just looking at it....
