Attraction and Appearances...

Recommended Posts

Ok, I run across my crush now and then and sometimes I'm "not" looking very flattering...(i.e. when I'm doing "handyman" repairs) and I hate it so much cuz I'm afraid that'll be a turn off....

I mean, when you are interested in someone, don't you always want to them to see you nice and cutie? :bunny:

Anywho I crossed paths with him recently and was so embarrassed I tried to look like I was too busy to notice him...I also did that a few weeks ago when, again, we crossed paths and I was not looking "nice".

Years ago, I was with a guy I was with for a good while (6 year guy) and OMG, one day he snuck up on me when I was hanging out clothes to dry (my parents couldn't afford a washer or dryer at a certain point) and I was "not" all cute and dolled up and he started kissing me and I was like "noooooo" and he was like 'what?' and I was like, 'how can you be attracted to me with me looking like this?' and he said like 'duh, cuz I know what you "do" look like when you're all dolled up'.

So, can you still be attracted to someone that occasionally you do not see at their "cutest"?

Sure. It shows you are human. Most people don't wake up & spend 24/7 looking fabulous. It's more real if they like you when you look ordinary.

As long as he's seen you at least once at your decked out best it should be fine. If he can't handle you when you're doing handyman repairs how is he going to deal with you rolling out of bed in the morning?

How can you be with someone for 6 years and be dolled up the ENTIRE time???

Real relationships are beyond looks. The best part of a relationship for me is when I'm comfortable and don't have to feel like I need to be dolled up all the time. In fact with all my boyfriends, I felt they thought I was just as attractive when I was at home in a t-shirt, no makeup, hair whichever way or fresh from sleep. They didn't like me because I looked dolled up all the time...they liked ME and felt who I was and how I looked just plain and regular was attractive.

Likewise I don't need a man to be dressed up all the time. When you really care for someone the littlest things become attractive. I get a crush where you don't know the person well and it's more superficial why you'd make that a main concern but if you are in a 6 year relationship....I don't get that.
