Who are you having in mind? The only bf of hers I remember is Steve.

I think that's who she's talking about. I liked them as a couple. Both far from perfect but they loved and sacrificed for each other like there was nobody better out there.

Yeah, the one she got pregnant by who always acted like such child. I just couldn't stand him.

I always had the feeling that he loved her more and she was just settling for him.

Yeah, mainly because she got pg. I didn't see Miranda as anyone who would settle because she was so independent. I thought Charlotte shouldn't have had to marry such an unattractive man because she was so beautiful. I mean, I know he was nice, but she was nice too, so she should have been able to have nice AND attractive.

Overall, Aiden was the best man, but the women were all too NY to appreciate him.

Charlotte's second guy was so amazing. I think that was kind of the point. She got exactly what she wanted with Trey and didn't like it. Because what she wanted and what she needed were two totally different things.

Aiden was definitely the better guy, but Big was a much better fit for Carrie.

Her connection and happiness with Harry was so great that she accepted him for who he was and never even wished he was more handsome or different.

Exactly! Of all the matches on the show, I think they might be my favorite!

Mr. Big does love her. He is also a commitment-phobe and, as I recall, recovering from a divorce or at least long term relationship.

Yup, he also likes things rather low-key in his private life, unlike Carrie.

Tbh, i disliked Carrie more than i disliked him.

She has somewhat of a parasytic lifestyle, and he life choices show quite some selfishness. I'm pretty sure that she sees herself as pretty close to the Disney princess and her love life needs kinda mirror that.

I had a sort of 'a-ha' moment when i realized i should stop going for Carrie or Miranda's [even Sam to some degree] in life, and go for Charlotte's. :)

I find/found the Big and Carrie relationship to be very dysfunctional. He was character with attachment disorder and they definitely had an almost codependent relationship.

Way too much drama for me.

Big and Carrie had this connection that just couldn't be broken. They both tried so many times. Big did have a hard time accepting that Carrie was the one for him. She was different. He just didn't realize for a long time that he didn't want to live without her. I loved it when he finally realized it and went and got her in Paris . ( the Russian ugh , did not feel they were a good couple) I also always liked that Carrie didn't sit around pining for big. I liked Aiden's character ( hot man) he just wasn't right for Carrie.

Charlotte and Trey. No. Charlotte and Harry. Yes . She didn't want to, but she fell for him like a ton of bricks. That man so moved her she accepted his tea bags all over the place .

Miranda and Steve .. I felt like she really showed how much she really did love him when she took care of his Mom.

Samantha. Love her, but understand where she's coming from the least.

Yeah, I've seen the show a couple a times or so :)

He found her in Paris, confessed his love, bought her a penthouse & eventually married her.

I have to admit I've got problems with the show so that's a disclaimer of sorts. But I thought this ending was particularly problematic and unfortunate. I know they probably didn't have much of a choice, since the fans would want this ending, but it didn't ring true to me. This just isn't the sort of thing this person does.

OP, I kind of agree, I think that if the writers were more honest about the character the truth is that he just isn't that into her. It kind of seemed like the show betrayed its own message there.

But like I said, I'm really ambivalent about the show in general, so I suppose take that with a grain of salt. It's nice to see a woman-centered show that was so successful, but I didn't really identify with the characters, who became caricatures of themselves over time, IMO, particularly Carrie.

I thought Harry was awesome though. Best character on the show. Certainly the most likeable!

I didn't really think Charlotte was all that nice. She was super judgy and totally looked down on him at first. I always thought she was the lucky one there.

This is how I feel ( and the reason I asked the question). I had the feeling he is not that into her and that his sudden realization and chasing her to Paris are just not realistic. And even though everything else was real-life situations, I just never witnesssed something like that in real life.

I think Miranda's biggest problem in accepting Steve was the fact that she strongly equated money with manliness; put bluntly, she was a better provider than he was ... and she could not accept him being a man around her because of this.

When she relented and started seeing manhood attached to other things [besides strictly providing], it worked for her.

Agreed, but think about it...Mr. Big was rich, splurging on a flight to Paris to snag Carrie wouldn't put a dent in his wallet. I mean, I'm sure there's guys who splurge on women cuz they can afford it and to flex their ego - not cuz it necessarily has anything to do with how much they wanted the woman.

I think that although Trey had mommy issues, they finally worked through them and he was able to have normal sex (and great sex) with Charlotte, but she messed it up cuz she wasn't patient. She pressured Trey to get married, have a baby...etc. There was even one show where the girls were kinda telling her to slow down a bit.

Then, when she finally stopped being a Prima Donna and gave Harry a chance, Harry, while lustful for Charlotte, didn't wanna marry her cuz he promised his mom he would marry someone for the same faith....So, again, Charlotte got all pushy, changed her religion and even though Harry secretly bought the ring to marry her, she pushed him so much they broke up for a minute. But I'm glad they pulled it together. They ARE the best couple out of all of them

Miranda and Steve .. I felt like she really showed how much she really did love him when she took care of his Mom.

The actress who played Miranda is a lesbian in real life and I spent most of watching Sex and the City wondering if Miranda was a closet lesbian. I mean, she was just so uptight when it came to men. Yes, Steve wasn't as accomplished as her, but she didn't have to treat him like her "male blow-up doll". Then, when they had the baby, she still was acting like an zzzz. And, then in the movie, when she finally got him, she cut off sex from him, then had the audacity to get mad when he cheated (just once and confessed it to her). I'm glad they pulled it together, but Miranda isn't worthy of Steve.

Samantha. Love her, but understand where she's coming from the least.

Samantha is an example of those people who consider themselves "playas", and don't need a man, but deeeeep down inside, all their bravado comes from insecurities. Then, cuz, look, she got that young guy who adored her, and she blew him off cuz she was "bored" and wanted to play around. You'd think that after she hooked up with Richard Wright and came back to the young guy she'd learned her lesson. I think Samantha is a fool.

Yeah, I've seen the show a couple a times or so :)

Mr. Big and Carrie. I have days I think that Mr. Big knew Carrie was "the one", but he - like Samantha - had so many insecurities, that he had to surround himself with dainty, younger models instead of wising up and just getting him a good woman. Again, I still think he "settled" for Carrie cuz he was getting old and still, Carrie was younger than him, but not as dainty as a 20-something model.
