Have any of you ever done online dating with profiles, creating it with your own words of describing yourself, then you see another profile with the same info word for word? I've had this happen to me about 2-3 times and it sucks.

Never happened to me. No one wants to read my 30 page long profile descriptions.

I've had my posts lifted plenty of times but never my profile, I don't think. I've never really checked. I only write a few lines anyway. As a guy it's 95% about your picture and the more you yack the more likely she'll hear something she doesn't like and DQ you. Just let her see the pic and let the ambiguity give her the ability to imagine you how she wants you to be.

Does your profile say you are:

- Looking to settle down

- You love to laugh and have fun

- Tired of the bar and club scene

- Love romantic movies

- Not looking for booty calls, hookups, one night stands.

- Family-oriented

- Your friends say you are funny and sarcastic

- Looking for a man who already has his life figured out

- Not looking to play games

Don't worry, that's like 80% of the profiles online.

I have a distinctive style of writing in my profile and get complimented on it for not being the usual boring crap. Unique turns of phrase have been lifted by a few women in my demographic who were barely literate, which made it look even more obvious on their profiles. Yes, I do check out the competition and wish men would as well so I wouldn't be bored to death reading their profiles.

Let's not forget the classics like:

I like going out or staying in.

I like cooking at home or eating out.

I like the usual things (such as?)

I am funny (their profiles are dull)

I am intelligant (see this one too often)

We could be here all day!

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

I was at a for-profit business event Friday night & saw one of my ideas up on the power point. It was a concept I created. The host knew about it because it was my theme when she & I were on a non-profit board together. At 1st I was a bit miffed but then realized that my idea must have had value if she will now peddling it as something she offered to her paying clients. Then I felt flattered.

Catfish online use whole scripts to lure people in that they copy off the internet as well as use other people's photos. I wouldn't like it but if it's just one description for a profile and they're not stealing anything else, I wouldn't worry about it. But I wouldn't want to date someone who was doing that and couldn't come up with a profile for themself.
