Hopeful30 Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 When it comes to dating, lots of people like to read books and articles about various aspects. My question is for the ladies. When you read an article that, for example, talks about mistakes women make in relationships, does your interpretation of the work change depending on if a man wrote it vs. a woman? Do you value more a man's opinion or a woman's opinion when it comes to talking about mistakes women make in dating? Thanks!
Toodaloo Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 No. If it is relative to me I take the knock on the chin and try to learn from it. Good advice is still good advice no matter who it comes from. 1

I like reading studies on cognition, behaviour, etc. How hormones affect emotions and feelings, behaviour. I try to understand the human behaviour and the nurture vs nature effect. When I read 'agony aunt' articles in magazines I just roll my eyes, regardless who wrote them because they are usually rubbish. Men do tend to sugarcoat less though and the articles usually feel more honest. When women give advice it can come across naive. Neither are particularly good though, usually.
rdet123 Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Honestly I like reading guys advice articles more than girls. I don't think women have very much a clue what guys think and if something is written by a women I take it less into consideration. Of course I always have my girlfriends to discuss guy troubles, but when it comes to online or something like that, normally I will appreciate guys advice more than women. 1
Phoe Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 I don't care who gave the advice, as long as they are a smart and reasonable person. 1
FitChick Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Generally prefer a man's perspective since I date men.
boilingpoint Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 I generally don't bother reading those articles, whether they are by a man or woman. Some are ok, but a lot have bull**** preconceptions about dating that actually make your sex life worse.
Tayken Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Generally prefer a man's perspective since I date men. Hatta girl.....sounds like you know what side your bread is buttered on (figure of speech).
