I did some calculations and even with a lot of social spending factored in we should still be about $600 ahead. Yet every month my husband has to take $300 to $600 out of savings and it's almost dwindled down to nothing. He did let me look at his bank statement lately. (We have separate checking) and I couldn't find anything odd so I just can't figure out where the money is going. Is there other ways to hide it that I can't tell by statements? Whenever I say we shouldn't be ahead he gets defensive and will say we spend too much and I tell him I factor all that in. Plus it's not always him paying, I use my debit card also for social events and some bills so he should have plenty of money left over.

If he let you look at his bank statements, what could he be hiding? Maybe try cutting back on some social spending to build your savings back up.

Also he was always $300 to $600 short a month and got a huge promotion which has him bringing in an extra $600 a month yet he is still $300 to $600 short yet we haven't changed our spending.
