After how many ignored texts would I move on?

Ok you miss 1 text, it can happen to anybody.

But you do not respond to 3 texts and a phone call over a span of 3 days. Now I know its intentional.

"oh you sent it text? I didn't see it " doesn't cut it.

How long before you call it quits?

Two texts or 24 hours, whichever comes first

Don't you just hate it when you are waiting to receive a text reply from someone you really like and it has been a while since you sent your text to that person and when you finally hear that alert indicating that you received a new text and it's a text from your mother instead? You feel like replying to your mother text with a zillion trailing exclamation points. "Ma, what the hell do you want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?"

My goodness the rules of dating have changed so much in the past 12 years or so.

I have no idea how long I'd wait after not hearing from someone to assume they aren't interested. I hate assuming anything because we all know what that means. I'd rather hear it directly from the person's mouth... "sorry but we aren't a good fit" works pretty well.

Yet for some reason, people seem to use the fade technique more and more these days. Why not just up front state that you aren't feeling it and move on? I don't get it.

The last guy I dated did this to me too and yes, I assumed the worst after about two weeks of not hearing from him, but I still wanted to know what happened. It took me about a month to finally get up the courage to ask... only to get the "we'd be better off as friends" speech. At that point I felt like an idiot for even asking but geez! he could have told me that much earlier and saved me some angst.

I guess I better come up with a plan for that in the future so I don't sit around wondering for a month huh?

So with your situation... 3 texts and one phone call gone unanswered in 3 days... probably a pretty good sign that interest is gone.

If he doesn't respond to one text or return a call, he's done-zo. There's no excuse short of

for leaving me hanging.

I lose a lot of respect for men who are spineless that way. A simple, "I don't want to continue dating so before things move forward that way, I'd like to remain amicable, friends even if you are able or would like".

To me, that man would gain my respect to the nines.

I may or may not need a day or two to get over any disappointment and possible 'shot to the ole ego', but he would forever have my respect and kindness *
