First, we're both in our mid-twenties. I'm planning on visiting a friend for a few weeks in December. He has generously invited me to stay at his place where he lives with extended family (common in the culture). I'm paying for the airfare and any other expenses. A free place to stay would ease the pain on my wallet. My hesitation is that I liked him a lot in the past and briefly cut off contact when he had a girlfriend in order to get over him (I confessed my feelings). He's a very private individual and I'm not sure if he's still with her. I know some people choose not to air their private details on Facebook so I don't want to take that as a barometer of his status (he's listed as single). He's a great friend and has been there for me during some difficult times. He has wanted me to place my trust in him.

So guys and girls, would you be comfortable if a friend of your SO stayed with him/her? Honestly, I wouldn't be cool with it due to the circumstances and my own jealousy. Out of respect for the relationship I wouldn't feel comfortable staying with him were he still serious with someome as I know the potential risk on my end and the real possibility it could complicate his own relationship.

Doesn't matter now, you accepted his invitation to stay with him. It's not up to you to worry if there are any issues with him and a GF, truly it's none of your business anyways. It's not like you begged or made him obliagted to invite you.

I don't think this is the real reason you are here. You are wondering if he is single, and if there is romantic motivation behind his invite. Just go and enjoy your trip.
