Is there such a thing as a two year relationship slump?

3 years ago, I became separated, blind sided by my now ex husband...but I did meet someone by accident. I went with it, and now two years later, I have been rang through the ringer...I was not at all innocent in this. Because of my past experience with ex husband, I became, insecure, needy, and VERY un trusting. Didn't mean it, but it just happened...as a result he pulled away, we ended things, but got back together one month later. And so the journey of ups and downs, on again off again relationships began! I think we love each other, I say think because I question love now...could this be. A 2 year slump?
