elgringo Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Recently I was dating a woman who was really into the Twilight books and movies (should have seen the red flag right there) and so I read Twilight and part of New Moon. My friends were teasing me about it. Rightly so. So anyone else here brave enough to admit doing something embarrassing or that you now regret in order to connect with your partner?
taiko Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 It is called "taking one for the team" you will take some and hopefully she will take some for you. In the end you find a partner not a mirror.
todreaminblue Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 (edited) i loved the twilight books......but i also love other books...i love to read and my girls read them and so i read what they read and i have to admit i enjoyed them...i dont think a guy should have to read what his gf does...if he wants to theres nothing wrong with that.....i think you can discuss why you found it bad .....or why you liked it.....then introduce your gf to what you love to read and discuss that.......did she ever enquire of what you love to read or show any interest in your books....you can normally tell someone by the books in their house, past and present.... more non fiction than fiction...fiction is normally an escape... when my ex and i lived in a caravan fro a few months we had no tv at night....i read like a demon.....he hated books and was often bored after the children went to sleep....other than sex of course.....but i liked to read........he read his first book since school a book i chose for him to read i knew he would enjoy in that caravan.....a true life story......he loved it......once we moved out of the caravan and tv became a mode fo entertainment.....he stopped reading ...everything but the newspaper...if i had all the books i have read over the years still.......i would own a complete library..ill never stop reading.......and that includes fluff novels like twilight that are actually quite well written and imaginative.........sometimes you need it light...my ex liked the news and to be up to date with current events so real life people were his bag of reading possibilities......deb Edited September 14, 2014 by todreaminblue
gaius Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 For the first girl I was involved with I read about half of a very weird book. I've purged most of it from my mind since then but I think it was one of those new-age mysticism things about the spirit and mind. Just dreadful. Occasionally I think about getting into UFO's and conspiracy theories for this one girl in order to have something to talk about but even my massive sexual attraction for her isn't enough to get me to do that. You lose some of that ambition and sweetness the more experience you get sometimes I think.
