I was think of having my Tarot cards read. The thing is it only may lead to more dissappointmanet depending on what it is you hope to gain from the reading.

Yes, I've gotten tarot cards read and my fortune told.

I do think you can squeeze out some decent information from a good psychic. I have had a few tell me very personal things that sort of "guided" me towards or away from a direction that I think deep down I knew was the right path, but was fearful of taking.

I used to go to psychics more frequently. I haven't been to one in about two years. Getting past life readings is sort of cool. But don't let a psychic tell you adamently that you're going to marry your ex or marry the one you are with. If that were true I'd be married twice already. Free will does come into play I think. And I have heard that even if something is "supposed" to happen in your life nobody can predict the actual time that is will in fact take place. I just heard this from one psychic who I do believe is fairly accurate.

But I have had psychics predict changes that would take place in my life. The last one I went to was great. She really helped me along. She just had a lot of positive energy. I went to one psychic when I had a break up and they gave me some information that I feel I should have known.....if that makes any sense. One psychic experience I had was really strange. They did in fact predict a date that I would do something and I did do that something on that date and it did result in what they said it would result in. I won't go into detail, but I think I created the coincidence more than anything.

I have been to about seven psychics in my life. But I don't go anymore. I think it can give you false hope. Make sure you go to the best one you can find if you go at all.

Tarot can be a great tool.

What you need to remember is that the things that show up in a reading are not set in stone.

Tarot readings should be views as guidelines when following your current path.

If you are thinking of using them for yourself as a meditation tool, thats awesome. Check around to find some classes in your area on doing just that. Or you can go google "free tarot" and play around with some of the computer programs.

If you are going to visit someone for a reading, let me share some advise. Do NOT get verbal diarrhea. Don't go spilling stuff about yourself. A good reader won't even need to know what your question is. Use the very loose verbage of, "I am looking for some direction on my life." In your mind you can have very firmly established what you are looking for. Your reader (if its a face to face reading) should allow you to touch the cards, to shuffle, cut the deck. This establishes a link that will not require that you have to play twenty questions, or a guessing game. A reader should be able to divine simply from the cards drawn information about the path you are currently following, as well as other bits of information.

Try to center on only a couple of things in your mind. Quiet the chaos as it were. If your thoughts are scattered your reading will be piece meal, and even the best reader can get confused about what they see in the cards.

Also a warning. Tarot readings can be addictive. I have known people who are scared to function without knowing "What the cards have to say." This can become a very expensive habit.

If u want to use these hocus-pocus psychic phenomena for entertainment purposes then that is fine but don't utilize them to run any part of your life or to make impt decisions with.

I've been reading them for myself and others for almost 20 years. Its uncanny how things can turn out and can be consistently spot on about something, but it isn't magic. It doesn't tell you the future (only gives you a possible outcome), and there really isn't anything 'mystical' about it. I see it as just a way of visually laying out possibilities that you wouldn't otherwise see because of your own biased outlook in the situation. There is always something in every layout that you will identify with and be able to take with you in forming solutions for your problems. When I read for someone, I ask them not to tell me anything about themselves. When the cards are laid out, I just start talking and finish up the reading and then inevitably the person just starts talking and we just discuss the situation in general. I have never charged for a reading, though I did get hired for a Halloween gig once to be a "fortune teller" and got tips. :p

The way I see it, the cards will help you look at a situation from a point of view you may not have considered. Its a tool for holistic thinking. In any situation, there are may possibilities in which it could go. If you lay out the cards, and see a scenario that you may not have considered - you will be able to think about your problem from more points of view, and take necessary steps to find solutions for those problems. It introduces variables and ideas into the situation that once considered, tend to make things more clear. It is about symbolism, interpretation, and archetypes. Each card has a specific meaning, which in turn is affected slightly by which cards are on either side of it. Add your own experience and meaning to them, and you have the "magic".

It puts a visual face on your subconscious fears, desires and hopes - if you have a layout that to you turns out to not be positive, then it is a direct reflection of what you already feel about the situation but haven't admitted to yourself about it, more or less. You can use the possible outcome from a reading to try things in your relationship that on some level you already know will probably work, or avoid those things that you already know some some level probably won't work.

You get out of the cards what you put into them, basically. While the meaning of the cards don't change, their meaning to you personally does change - it all depends on how you look at them.

If you are wanting a reading, look out for a few things: charging too much, introducing too much 'spiritual' junk, asking you too much information or leading you during the reading. A lot of hucksters will tell you what you want to hear and charge you for the privilege - instead of using it as a tool for helping you dig deeper into what you want to know.
