I met this guy online and we went on the first date and we hit it off-it last almost 4 hours. He texted me right after the date to make sure i made it home okay. We texted the following week on and off (maybe 1/2 texts a day) and then conversation died off. I initiated another one a few days later to show i am still interested. Once again the conversation has died off and its been over a week and he hasn't asked me out on a second date. Should I ask or just wait it out? I have asked out guys in the past and it did not fare out too well so I am not so sure anymore.

Wait it out, and while you're waiting, look for his replacement.

What do you have to lose?

Since it doesn't seem as though he will ask you, if you don't ask there most likely won't be a 2nd date.

You can definitely ask, since I'm all for being a go-getter, but 1) I think you waited too long to make a move and 2) I don't think he's all that interested at this point.

You're initiating communication and trying to keep the dying connection alive...clearly you're interested.

He's letting the conversation die and not asking you out on a second date...clearly he's not interested in dating you or a relationship with you.

The problem with chasing a guy in this scenario, is he'll often say yes, in the hopes of getting lucky quickly with minimal effort. You want different things if he bites. He's not going to give you what you ultimately want. It was one date. You weren't a match in his mind. No biggie. 3 billion men out there. You'll be compatible with someone else. Just move on to the next.

He's not interested. You can ask and see how fast he comes with an excuse or no reply.
