Why do I feel jealous if she's just a mate?

Hi,

 

During the last month, I've got fairly close to one my colleagues who recently left the company. We talk alot on and I have a bit of a soft spot of her. I did ask myself do I like her in that way but when I think about i, I know we are not soul mates nor suitable for a relationship and I was quite content to leave it a mates.

 

However, this night we where out drinking and there was this one guy, another colleague, who was flirting with her, touching her, holding her hand etc and it was making me jealous. It just makes me think why do I feel jealous if I she is just a mate? I'm a lying to myself?

 

I don't really like this guy. He's a married man and a player who has cheated on his wife several times. But he goes after a girl and unfortunately some do fall for him.

 

I got a feeling they are together now, so I can't sleep hence writing this. Not sure if I feel jealous because I like her or is it because this guy is n arsehole. I don't believe I would feel as jealous if it was a different / nicer guy.

 

I've not really felt jealous like this 'over a friend' so keen to get your thoughts.

could be both, maybe you do like the girl a little and you also don't like this guy getting another girl. Its an understandable feeling.

 

I also witnessed a case where a girl seemed be into a guy I disliked and it did annoy me even though I was sorta meh about the girl.

Naa, OP is jealous because he wish that he was the one touching her the way the other guy does.
