gd1039 Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 With the goal of laying it all out on the table, and not wondering whether it is a date or not, what does everyone think of just asking a girl "Do you want to go on a date this weekend?" It would seem to cut out the guesswork of whether it is a date or you are going out as friends...
Pocky Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 Just pay for everything. That will confirm it's a date.

alphamale Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 asking women out is not rocket science, GD1039. it's like anything else, you need experience and the more you do it the better you'll get.

I do this thing where I rush to pull out my wallet if I am trying to make it a point that we are not on a date. With my crush I was like, oh I'll pay for dinner. He said, no way that would make this not a date. I said, oh, ok. Then expect me to order some outrageously expensive dish and eat 1/12 of it. He said, ok, that's what mr. moneybags is here for.

My BF has never let me pay for anything. LOL I offer.. but he says he doesn't want me to pay for things that we do.. he's all about me cooking for him or whatever.. but *dates* like drinks, food, movies that kind of thing.. he insist on paying.
ion Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 It's a look in the eye, a pause when asking that question or a touch on the arm...basically it's a variable unique to the woman you're asking, but it's important to communicate the desire for more than friendship and it's always better sooner than later. Be confident. Try and come up with something concrete, not the usual movies or dinner, etc... And when you ask state your intentions, "I'd like to get to know you better...", in a manner of speaking, it's like writing a resume. It's important to use action words. Don't be sleasy either, be gracious, if she chooses not to go out with you. That stuff always comes back around. clynn Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 I think that the usual dinner and movie is actually okay. Well, actually movies are kinda boring for early dates. But dinner is great! You get to go out and talk, and that is what it is about. Course I like"activity" dates too. A walk, window shopping.
MWC_LifeBeginsAt40 Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 "I would like to take you out" lets her know that YOU WANT to take her out. Then you could ask her what she would prefer and give her a couple of options such as a movie, or something to eat. The other way "Do you want to go on a date" to me that sounds like you're only asking her out cuz you think she wants you to. But why listen to me, I"m almost 40

That's a LOUSY way to ask. "Do you want to go on a date?" is one question....it's asking if she wants to go on a date..not necessarily with you, and not necessarily asking her out. "Will you go out with me on a date?" is a better question....yes to this means that she wants to go on a date with YOU.
