d0nnivain
I think it varies. Even if there was an "average". It's just that -- a statistical mathematical calculation factoring in people who marry their high school sweetheart & folks like me who don't marry until middle age. Neither choice is wrong or right. The key is finding somebody with whom you are compatible. At your age you still have a great deal of growing, learning & changing to do. Those things will factor into your life long mate. Since it's highly unlikely you will be the same person at 24 that you are now, don't worry about that aspect of your future.
MissBee
I don't know the average, but it's an interesting query. While it varies I'm sure there is some average. But I haven't a clue. I just know that it does indeed vary from person to person and depends on various factors. In smaller towns and more traditional or conservative communities/societies especially ones where there isn't really such a thing as dating for fun, but it's more marriage-focused, people will probably have way less relationships before marriage or none at all besides the one they have with their future spouse. But in a culture where dating casually is the norm most people will date and have a few relationships before marriage.
