I was strolling out of the grocery store when a cute blonde walked by me and commented on how I smelled nice ... "like essential oils". I looked over and said something about how it must've been my beard balm. She gave me a sexy sideways glance then kept going.

I hadn't put on any beard balm that morning. I hadn't even showered or put on deodorant. Same with the day before. In fact, I had just gotten back from a 6 hour drive with a bunch of dudes coming out of a construction site. I was downright dirty and was actually feeling grungy on the ferry trip across home.

Later on I sat down with a female friend for a glass of wine and recounted the story. She told me that the natural scent of a man can be a huge turn on for women; that between the physique of a man and his scent, she could be far more turned on by the latter. She prefers it over cologne and body wash.

Polling the female audience here for some verification / further insight.

I haaaaate the smell of cologne/body wash.

If I were that girl I'd be more attracted to the beard/seeing a hard working man. If your pheromones were attractive I might notice but that usually comes after other areas of attraction for me personally.

Women love the scent of "clean". For me it's irish spring soap and his clothes washed in tide that sends me swooning.

I hate after shave and cologne. Men tend to wear so much of it, it leaves a puddle.

Thanks for the perspective

I don't think I'll be changing my hygiene routine or tossing out the body wash any time soon.

As much as some women may enjoy the scent of my musk, I often don't. I like feeling clean except when I'm not.
