AltiumV Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Hello Basically i recently got out of a long term relationship of 3 years, my ex gf cheated on me , long story short everything was going well we were living together and then she started becoming needy and wanting me to buy her stuff, a few fights/arguments later she went out looking elsewhere and found herself a sugar daddy. Anyway that isn't important, its been around 5 months so far and ive been thinking of getting back into the dating scene, one thing that i have noticed is that i have this constant fear that if i date someone new they may cheat on me or may leave me, its as if i don't trust females anymore and scared about investing time into a relationship to only be betrayed or have them come after my money or career prospects. It has become really problematic and has scared me away from the dating scene so the questions. How did people overcome the feeling of betrayal? How did you learn to trust another female? How did u get yourself back into the dating game? What should i do? Thanks
Requiem4Dreams Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 This post makes me think that you're not ready yet to take that step, because of these fears you have, you're not completely healed. You take a chance in everything you do. A risk will be involved with dating, getting to know someone, etc. It's ultimately up to you whether you decide the risk is worth it. There are no answers, only the comfort you feel at this moment, and what you're willing to accept. As long as you have boundaries dating should not be a problem. Now when you're capable of not caring which way it falls on, then you are ready to step back into that world and start dating. Always remember you don't need someone to complete you, just to want to spend time with you. With that in mind, it's quite easy to separate the chaff from the grain, and find people whom are capable of handling your trust. 1
CDRdelta Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Requiem is right, don't force yourself into something when you're feeling like this. Because let's say you do find someone you like and with you worry about her cheating on you, then you wont trust her and you may end up pushing her away. You'll just start the cycle again hurting yourself more. Focus on yourself for a while. Let any future relationships happen naturally and at your pace.
