irc333
Ever seen dating profiles, though not really bad nor good, but they keep it in the format of the old school newspaper write-ups. Usually a list of words separated by commas. "Romantic, intelligent woman with a great sense of humor and sense of adventure....looking for an intelligent man with a sense of humor, kind, handsome, great eyes, and a sense of adventure, and an interest in the outdoors. " With all these "How to make a better profile" threads, do you necessarily recommend this? Keeping it simple like the example above? Some are even shorter than that. central
I simply ignore those profiles. If they can't communicate who they are and what they want, they're highly unlikely to be a good match. I will still respond if they initiate (and are physically attractive to me), but if they can't provide helpful information even then, I end any further activity (unless we're both only interested in a ONS at the time, perhaps). My profile wasn't that extreme but close. It attracted similar men: to the point, decisive, knew what they wanted, no wishy-washy stuff. You should have your audience in mind when you write a profile.
Author irc333
I wouldn't necessarily say that they wouldn't be someone I'd like to get to know. .... as chances are they are probably better conversationalist in person. salparadise
Those types of profiles give off a negative vibe, at least to me. It could be that we'd click in person but I don't initiate unless I'm getting a positive feeling... which means the writing has a feeling of openness, tolerance and acceptance. It is off-putting to see a profile that transmits a person's frustration with previous experiences or interactions, and a list of demands or minimum qualifications often does that. Acceptance and appreciation are qualities I look for, and it needs to be demonstrated in the tone more than the actual words.

Well you find out by contacting the person and see if you click. If you do, you meet up. When I used to do OLD I found that it was boring to read through so many verbose profiles, that's why I think a lot of people don't do it.

I like for someone to show a bit more personality than that. My OLD profile when I had it up did a good job of exhibiting my personality, both through the actual style of how it's written to what it said. I'm gonna be way more interested in a profile that feels "personable" than generic. But the above is still a lot better than those ridiculous profiles where all fields say "Ask me", that's beyond minimalist to extremely boring and LAZY! And it's still better than those who have lists of all that they don't want and complaints about dating but say nothing about themselves or what they're looking for. So it's not the most interesting but better than some other options.

Or ones that say, "Will fill this out later" (and they never fill it out later) or "I hate writing about myself, but I guess I'm supposed to fill this area with space...blahblahblahblahblahblahblahla"
Disillusioned
Or ones that say, "Will fill this out later" (and they never fill it out later) or "I hate writing about myself, but I guess I'm supposed to fill this area with space...blahblahblahblahblahblahblahla" In plain English, it means they got disappointed and bounced out of there, but the site won't let them delete their profile. Author irc333
Yes and there's been a rapid increase in pissed off women in their profile. Some can get away with an attitude because it won't stop anyone. I like for someone to show a bit more personality than that.
