freebird31 Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 I have been talking to this guy for a few days now. Today he text me in the morning and asked me how my day was I replied then he never replied after lol. If could be that he was busy yes. But how rude! Lol am I right ? If he does this again I think I am just going to stop talking to the guy altogether. I don't do games.
PegNosePete Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 How long do you think is an acceptable timeframe for responding to a text? You say you don't do games but here you are, starting up some drama about not getting a text in what you consider to be a suitable timeframe. Have you discussed texting response times with him to see if his views match yours? It seems to me like you are the one playing games here.

Within at least 12 hours ? Hahaha not asking for a lot at all. I can understand if you're busy idc but is it not weird that he started a conversation with me then disapeared right after? Is this something I should discuss with someone you are only starting to get to know? Idk man. I feel like if I discuss an acceptable time frame it would scare him off for sure...ah
Author freebird31 Posted August 18, 2014 Author Posted August 18, 2014 And hey there I'm not playing games..just trying to stay cautious gotta protect yourself u know!
PegNosePete Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Is this something I should discuss with someone you are only starting to get to know? What is the alternative? To just assume his acceptable response timeframe matches yours? You know what they say about assuming. Or you could just give him the benefit of the doubt. Or realize that not everyone feels the same as you do regarding texting. Some (many) people regard texting as idle, meaningless time filler. Idk man. I feel like if I discuss an acceptable time frame it would scare him off for sure...ah Well, chastising him for not replying within your acceptable time period would scare him off for sure. And hey there I'm not playing games..just trying to stay cautious gotta protect yourself u know! Protect yourself from what? Not getting a reply to a text from a guy you met a few days ago?

Hm interesting point of view. So how would you suggest I address or mention this to him without making it seem like I am chastising him ? Like just casually bring it up? "Oh hey btw I like when people respond within the same day." Yeah , no. 1
PegNosePete Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Well I would go with option b, giving him the benefit of the doubt. Not everyone is obsessed with texting, especially after only knowing someone a couple of days. Once a day communication is totally enough, or even too much, for this soon in a relationship - if it can even be called that! 1
Fondue Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Did you send him a response that he is able to reply to? Or rather, did your text give him an opportunity to continue the conversation?
