They generally have a relationship already, with no small number of men waiting to see if they ever become single. That's a good point.

Women take the initiative only 10% of the time at the very most. This is why men who do OLD get only a trickle of messages from women, while women get overwhelmed by tsunamis of messages from men.

Boggles my mind why more single guys don't participate. What better setting than to spend of couple hours hiking with mostly fit females. A chance to chat, etc. without any awkwardness or anxiety about approaching a girl. Are you a good catch? Then much easier to make a good connection than OLD. Let's keep that meet up site our little secret lol 3

Just this morning, I checked a local speed dating site (the only one of 3 speed dating companies still hosting events in this region), and an event slated for next week said it's full for women, but there's still room for men to register. At asexual events, the ratio is even more skewed than at the events you've gone to... more like 4x or 5x more women than men. As to why it boggles your mind, well... it boggles my mind too, because as an openly asexual straight man, I've always felt shut out from mainstream romantic culture. Best guess is that most men who are actively looking for women are also looking for a pleasure/endorphin hit (i.e., "if it feels good, do it")... these are the type of guys who can't see any sense in going to an event which doesn't have booze or drugs in addition to women. There might have been a site at some point that had a 10:1 ratio at one point. But for the main sites that everyone goes to like pof, okcupid, or zoosk, the ratio is closer to 2:1 or 3:1. Match is usually known for having an almost 50/50 ratio. The quality of men compared to the women though....that's another story. 1

When a guy wants sex he either has to pay for it, has to go through heroic trials to get into a relationship or has to feign affection. The last option works the best though, and finding desperate girls who must have a relationship like all of their friends shouldn't be too hard in the internet. 1

Average bodies, some photos doing activities, and some cliche interests like cars, collecting, or working out. The women on the other hand were often single moms or obese. Out of a night of searching for women to message, I would find maybe 5 in my area that weren't fat, single mothers, ugly(by ugly i mean didn't even try to present an attractive picture), and actually filled out their profile. Out of those 5, I would get a reply from one of them as long as I wrote the message right. I should also mention I dated a single mom for a whole year and it was a good relationship. It ended though for obvious reasons. The guys are boring, predictable, and desperate, but they at least are available for a good relationship without immediate draw backs. Who knows, maybe "boring or desperate" in a woman's eyes is equal to "fat or has children" in a man's eyes. 1

Even off of OLD the guys outnumber the girls.. life I suppose.. get used to it.. you have to learn how to compete or fall thru the cracks into OLD not working for you. When I was single and doing OLD I created a fake account and went to look at my competition, I browsed all the guys profiles looking how to make mine better...

The number of decent guys to choose from (good body, decent salary, hobbies, well done pictures) far outnumbered the number of decent girls in a random search. The amount of obese girls was higher compared to the numbers of obese men with less non-obese girls too choose from. Obviously, very few single fathers. We can replace that with the number of perverts on the male side which should obviously be disregarded. This is obviously based on my own person experience with OLD. If there are any real statistics on this stuff I'd love to see it. 1

For one thing, fewer people are smoking... also fewer people work in dirty, dangerous jobs here in the US, since many of those jobs were outsourced to China.
