With general online dating, I would agree with this. With Tinder, I would disagree with this.

I have met tons of girls on Tinder. Got to the point of essentially shutting it down...was getting a little out of control. No problem with the women, though. They were attractive, successful and had great personalities.

Same experience for me. I met a lot of women on it and no bad experiences. All very attractive and career minded. Taking a break from it right now.

Unfortunately, I've hear that the "hello" or "hey" greetings are the worst possible thing to send a girl.

Would you seriously respond to a guy that just said "Hey" and nothing else?

Lol uhh...ya...I have. That's usually how conversations start off, you know.

I don't respond to ANYONE who writes "hi" "hello" or "hey."

I'm sorry but it's the laziest way to talk to someone. Especially since it's texting on a keyboard. How hard is it to move your thumbs around and poke a few more keys??

This person is a complete stranger. They don't know you. What in the world do you want them to do? Write a cheesy love poem about your picture or "about me" and how it deeply inspired them reach out to you as if it were fate?? lol

You don't have to know someone to know how to have basic conversation skills. I think conversational skills in a lot of people these days is severely lacking. Texting, and these online date sites and e-mails make people so lazy.

"Hey KatZee, just came across your profile and i really like fact that [insert whatever it is you enjoyed on that person's profile.] Would be great to talk and get to know each other."

or

"Hi."

What are you talking about? I meet tons of women on Tinder. It's ridiculous. I won't even message a woman first, and I still meet more women than I can handle. Its a great way to meet women.

You must have amazing pictures then is all I can say, for a while I had my profile pic as one that every girl I ran it past said made me look like a male model- didn't get me any results on tinder.

That being said, from comparing experiences with a female work colleague she thought I was extremely picky, out of a batch of 30 say, I would like 10, possibly slightly less. So I'm not giving myself a large group to match with, I have to admit, even so it's still a little surprising that in 3 months I've had 3 matches none of whom replied to my opening message (ranged in subtlety from a "hey, how's it going" to a hard neg.)

Watching my colleague using it was a real eye opener- almost every time she liked a guy she got a match- and she's attractive but not super hot. Ridiculous. Also seeing the guys photos, i did think mine weren't great in terms of quality...but the guys I saw her swipe through were arguably even worse! Lots and lots of bad quality selfies only showing part of the guys face. She was liking some of them, so now, like Freud, I am completely bemused at what women want...and am almost past caring!
