Don't want to be a doormat to a verbally abusive, controlling and autocratic man, who has to have the last say to everything. Who spends $$$ on multiple vehicles, holidays and hobbies, yet lets the house fall apart and won't spend money on the house.

Then don't be your parents...

It's pretty simple really. Take the lessons you learned growing up with these people and apply them to your own life.

 

You can choose to be whoever you want to.

wisdom comes from learning from our past and that of others mistakes. Sounds like you are gaining that.

 

Some things come easy for some folks....Other things are a challenge....Learning as we grow.

 

My mom was an awesome \baker and cook, yet two of my brothers are helpless in the kitchen. Point being....even relations or someone that grew up in an environment of cooks doesnt make them automatically a chef.

 

I get your viewpoint, you definitely know what you will and willnot tolerate.
