JBlackstone Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 I used to tell my ex to stop acting like the victim in life. I finally did a google search and came across this Victim mentality - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia It is him to a tee! Has anyone else had experience with this victim mentality in a relationship? Basically every bad thing in life is someone else's fault, everyone is against you, and you have absolutely no insight into this and cannot see situations from anothers point of view. The Wikipedia page goes on to say that folks with this mentality cannot heed suggestions so it is likely to be chronic. Makes me feel like I dodge a life filled with misery! Reading this information gave me such a huge feeling of relief that it wasn't me being unreasonable in this relationship!!!
rewl Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Having a victim mentality and an addiction to indignation is a profitable business these days, it's good to sharpen up those skills. It could make you very wealthy overnight.

cocorico Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Blaming everyone but yourself is a characteristic of some really toxic personality disorders. Yep. My H's xW is a classic example. You wonder how people make it into adulthood if they can't take responsibility in their own lives.
joystickd Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Yeah! Majority of women I was OM to. They have a sob story and just have a need for attention. When you stop and look at the whole story you realize they brought it on themselves
