alphamale Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 So I just started work at a new bldg in a new city, our dept was moved to make space. Drive is shorter and overall it is great. I work for a very large company and in our new complex there are two other smaller companies that share the cafateria and other common areas, such as smoking rooms, lobby, etc.... Anyways, there are boat-loads of cute available women running around cause one of the other companies is a local mid-sized bank. Man I'm gonna have a field day. I don't date people I work with but would you recommend dating people from other companies but in the same bldg??? I mean, if it goes sour (which is highly likely), you'll still run into each other in the same bldg. I just want advice cause i've never been in a situation where I worked in a bldg with multiple employers.
Artifact Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 I think different companies, same building is fine. You can always duck around corners if it doesn't work out. I had to reply. Your topic actually made me giggle.

OK my old work place at the paper had other companies inside the building as well. I'm not the right person actually to answer this as I am currently married to somebody I dated while working in the same paper. Different section but same floor. Just do some flirting and make sure that you are keeping track who is married and who isn't...I don't know I'm sure some others will have more input on this one. I know you'll enjoy yourself either way though!

You're cute. yeah WWIU, I had to add the "going sour" part cause 90% of the time I date a woman for 3 or 4 months and then get bored and lose interest. Very few women can keep me interested for a longer period of time. But in this new environment I think I could do some "hoppin' around", if ya know whut ah mean, Verne.
whichwayisup Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 I know what you mean Verne... One of my Fave's...Too bad he's dead eh. Man he'd made me laugh.
Bubbles Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 alphamale, You are such a DOG......... One bit of advice. Do not court ANY of these women while on your work premisis. If you ask someone out for lunch take her off site. Remember now......people love gossip! Go get 'em Tiger! bubbles
Sckott Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 Agree. Heavy flirting must be off site. Sounds like you're a rooster for real! Good luck!

Bronzepen Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 No not a good idea. The whole reason behind not dating a coworker is the s*** talk about you after the breakup. You can say sticks and stones but in the workforce your reputation goes far. It has effected promotions and even has gotten people fired. Very ugly. Sure there is always a chance of fairy tale endings but the risks are too high. No diffrence in your case. If you breakup with one of these women from another company then they can date someone else from your company. Word of mouth, then next thing you know your getting dirty looks from coworkers, get treated diffrently or worse. Too risky.

quankanne Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 Do not court ANY of these women while on your work premisis okay, time for MAJOR caffeine consumption -- I read the last word in that statement as "penis"! alpha, meeting females from other companies in your building sounds like a safe venture. maybe you ought to get some folks from your office together, then try to hold a "meet and greet" lunch hour in the dining area so that people get to know each other. Not only will that let you put names to faces for possible dating purposes, it gives people in the building a more "connected" feeling ... just don't let Mr. Happy do any courting while on the work premesis!
whichwayisup Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 Alpha we all love ya! Somebody's head is gonna swell now...
