Why my EX asked me if I still love her does she care or just feeding ego?

My girlfriend and I broke up about 3 months ago after a 5 year relationship, since then she has jumped into a new relationship but still for some funny reason tells me misses me, loves me and still would like to work things out all while in her new relationship, I don't respond back to what she tells me. So one day she asked me if I didn't love her anymore? I responded with " I do, but it really donot think that matters right now" and she replied with "whatever" I take it she didn't like my response. I said that because I do but it shouldn't matter to her if I do or not because she has moved on so my question for advice is does she really care or is she just using me to make her feel better about herself? Why is she telling me all this while in her new relationship it be better if she was single and her telling me those things.

She wants to win the breakup. Wants to make sure you still miss her while also making sure you know how her life is going.

She's keeping you hanging around in case things don't work out with the new guy. I'm sure she would love to her that you still love her. She more than likely doesn't mean the things she is saying to you, but she knows that you may like to hear them and therefore she will be on your mind and keep you dangling. Best not to respond and block her on phone and email so you can start to move on again.
