Here my story!

I met this guy on Okcupid around June 18. I leave in CA and he live in Dallas,TX.

he contact me and said want to be friend and we start chatting everyday. He suggest that we communication through Whatsapp or Viber. We exchange number and start using Whatsapps at beginning. We switch to viber cause there you can also call for free. He said he an engineer in environmental air and polution.

Around July 4th I was in Vegas, and I told him about my trip. He said he want to fly and meet me there. However, he working on a project and hope he can get the project since it a huge one. I told him that fine, we can meet after he finished his project.

I came back from my 3 days trip he got the project and said he has to go to Nigeria for 5 weeks. He was happy and messages me and told me all this. He flight out on Saturday and message me on Sunday afternoon and told me he arrived safely. Skip Monday, I didn't hear from him, than Tuesday he message me and told me that he got rope and they took his wallet, watch but didn't take his cell phone since it off. I ashed him if he alright and didn't get hurt. He told me that he was fine. But now he don't have money with him. Btw, he was leaving at the lodge and want to move in to the hotel since there was lot of mosquitos. Than he said it will cost $4500us dollar for 23 days including meals.

He asked me to send him money but I refused. Since we has not even met and I don't feel safe to send money like this.

At the same time my car broke down and I told him I need the money to fix my car. Than he said that my car is more important than him. That now he know that he all alone. I asked him if you don't know me, who will you ask for help. He kept quite and didn't say anything. He keep blame me don't want to help him when he need me the most. From there on, he less message me.

I'm not sure to trust this person since I hasn't met him in life. Did I do it wrong. Can someone advise me if I should trust him. I'm so lost here.

You must not trust him! A stranger who asks you for money is definitely NOT trustworthy. Don't talk to this guy again! He is dangerous.

he first ask me to lend him $500 and will return when he got paid. Later he said if I don't have $500 and can send him $200 for foods. I didn't send him after all.

No reason to give money.

He's almost a stranger.

You want to give a stranger money? Walk around your town and hand out a few small bills.

The guy is hustling you.

Look, he is trying hard to manipulate you. A decent human being would not ask an online stranger for money even if they are stuck in a bad situation. Don't be so gullible and don't give him money. If he needs money, he can contact his friends and family. Go date the many other men on OkCupid.

No, you shouldn't trust him. I'm sorry to break this to you, but this is sounds like a pretty common scam. Do a Google search for "Nigerian dating scams" and you'll see a lot of similarities.

Here are a few "Signs you may be dealing with a Nigerian scammer" that I pulled from this website:

datingnmore. com/fraud/scam_signs_nigerian.htm

Their occupation is often "building contractor" or "petroleum engineer"

They immediately want to get off the website and onto Yahoo IM or MSN IM

They typically claim to be from the US (or your local region) but they are overseas, or going overseas mainly to Nigeria, sometimes the UK for business or family matters

They have no close family or friend or business associates to turn to, even the US embassy, instead they can only rely on a stranger they picked off the internet

To them love equals financial assistance: if you do not send them money or help them out with what they ask, you do not love them

They claim they've been mugged and have no money and are being held hostage in the hotel and are not being allowed to leave until the bill is paid, often they will let you talk to the "hotel manager" who will verify the story

Those seem similar enough to just assume he's trying to pull a scam on you. Even if it's not that particular scam, someone you've only been chatting online with for a month asked you for money. It was $4500 at first, and when you didn't go for that, he was like "Okay, 500?" and finally "Fine, just $200 then?" And then he stopped talking to you as much because you didn't give him any money. He's a con artist.

Then again, you also asked him for money, right?

He's right that you don't trust him. And you're right not to trust. A person you met on the internet a month ago is asking you for money. When you didn't fork it over, he started quilting you. That's not trustworthy behavior.

If he has absolutely no friends or family who can help him and only a person he's only known for a month, he must be a really terrible person.

Don't try to prove to him that he's important to you. Delete and block all his contact info. And congratulate yourself on being smart enough not to have sent that money to a scammer.

Nigerian? Red flags right there. They are notorious scammers. The typical process is to build trust (usually over the phone and internet) and then ask them for money (always a money order, can't be traced). Don't trust this guy and meet people that actually live by you.

It's a scam. They contact you on a dating site, then magically lose their wallet/credit card, and they ask you for money.

He's probably not from TX; he lives in Nigeria..

He is not into you romantically.

He is not an engineer.

He did not go to Nigeria.

He did not get robbed.

He is simply a scam artist.

Ignore him with a clear conscience.
