Is it a bad idea to date someone who just got out of a long term relationship?

Hi. I have been chatting with a man that is 2 years younger than me on a dating site. He's just been out of a long term relationship 4 months ago that lasted 2.5 years. I'm kinda nervous about this because I don't know if he's still in love with his ex and whatnot and I don't want to put myself in an awkward situation so I'm very wary because I been hurt a couple times in the past.

I'm new to dating so take what I have to say with a grain of salt.

My girlfriend just got out of a controlling relationship from her boyfriend, and they were together for a year. She talks about him from time to time, but I have no doubt in my mind she has moved on. They have been broken up for about 3 months.

So my advice to you is, I would ask how their relationship ended. Or, you could always ask if he has feelings. What I have learned thus far, and in life in general, is just talking is the best way. So many opportunities open up, if you actually speak up!

Wish the best

Who broke up with who?

If he got rejected there's a problem. If he rejected her you're gold, unless it's because he has commitment issues or ED...

Why don't you just take it slowly and see where it goes?

I agree with this. It will give you some perspective. For example if he broke up with her theres a really good chance he has moved on. Just take it slow and see how things progress.

I feel like this could be dangerous. Are you sure he is wanting a relationship? He could just be chatting with you

I wonder this myself. I have just started talking to him yesterday, July 12th. He seems interested in meeting but I told him I'm not ready to meet anytime soon and I want to take my time

Good reply. If you guys just started talking yesterday, then do as you said! Only time will tell :)

Hope it goes well.
