Hello everybody,

as time passes and I get a bit more detached from my ex I am starting to see some of her defects more clearly. So I was wondering: how much time did it take for you to get in that stage? And what is it that you realized that made you wonder if it was really such a big deal that they were gone after all?

I think that for me the biggest realization so far was that often she would form opinions about things, and then assume that they were facts of life that nobody was ever allowed to question. A practical example: her mother has diabet (which is actually only one of the health problems she has), yet my ex would let her eat sweets and chocolate and stuff without saying a thing. The last time I was visiting I saw her mother eat six tablets of chocolate in half a day. When I tried to ask her if that was really ok she would get irritated and say that her mother was allowed to have some joy in her life every now and then, and that she was taking insuline anyway so it wasn't a big deal. I said that I didn't think it worked that way, and she brushed it off saying that I knew nothing. That was more or less her general attitude when talking about things we didn't agree upon. It's definitely not something I am going to accept in future relationships.

Varies for everyone ..for me its slowly getting there after 7 months

* he used to be a stud muffin in my eyes , saw him recently ..it was more of "my god i was on some good crack"

* realised all the years i was with him , we have always had a all cards on table , no lies kind of relationship ..but he lied to me from the very beginning ..funny how the truth unravels when the goggles are coming off

* i thought i was the insecure one (self image wise )but damn ..this guy out do me in this department . He thought his money ,his freaking expensive gifts and our lavish lifestyle is enough to keep me blind from his insecurity.
