EIN Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 Hi, I want to find out what song(s) helped you cope with the breakup whether you were the dumper or the dumpee. Personally, I was the dumper. Situation was that she only came to me whenever she had no one else to go and I became her emotional blanket and she used me to make her current bf jealous and when we talked, it was a denegrating and dominanting tone. Song that helped me through the guilt of dumping her was Linkin Park - Numb and Papa Roach - Scars. Anyone care to share their song and situation behind it?
IhavenoFREAKINclue Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 "Puke" By Eminem That's all i have to say!
savethedrama4allama Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 I HATE EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU... WHY DO I LOOOOVE YOU Yep.
jcs0521 Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 At the beginning of the breakup it was: (I was the dumpee) Alicia Keys - Songs in A Minor - Practically wore the cd out cos I played it so much. How come you don't call me, Why do I feel so sad and Goodbye. Now I listen to (5 months on) John Legend - Get Lifted - song Ordinary People N*E*R*D - In Search Of - song Stay Together (this one makes me laugh)
tanbark813 Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 Maroon 5 - "Harder to Breathe" The lyrics are just a general, "I know you'll miss me now" type of thing. (HED)PE - Pac Bell This was my theme song after an ex from a few years back cheated on me. It must be played loud enough to disrupt your hearing. Eminem - "Superman" Perfect break-up song. Pearl Jam - "Black" Once the anger dies down, this is good for the nostalgic times.
Lonestar Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 "I Don't Care Anymore" - Phil Collins Damn.... I'm old.
Nubianangel Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 Oh, I have a few of 'em.. -You oughtta know by Alanis -I hate you so much right now by Kelis -The one I gave my heart to by Aaliyah They all definitely helped and like Tanbark said it's always best to play them as loud as possible (or as loud as the neighbors will allow without calling the cops!)
Nocturnalkitee Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 Meshell Ndegeocell....."Fool of me." This song is from the movie Love and Basketball! I love this song.
Three of Swords Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 Pearl Jam - Black (2nd vote for this one) "I know you'll be the sun in someone else's sky....oh why can't it be mine" Soil - Obsession "Can't you see how much you mean to me" Seether - Broken "You've gone away u dont feel me...anymore" Saliva - Storm "You were deep within my heart" Godsmack - Straight out of Line "I can’t control you, you are not my destiny" Linkin Park - Somewhere I Belong "I wanna find something I wanted all along Somewhere I Belong" Him - Funeral Of Hearts "Love's the funeral of hearts And an ode for cruelty" I really could go on here. The lyrics of songs can give substance to thoughts unsaid. Music and Love Shack is pretty much what has kept me going. I could live without LS if necessary (sorry ) but as I have been known to say - "without music life is not worth living". Good thread!
ziggue Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 These were songs I could relate too when I was the dumpee. Bring Me To Life: Evanescence Stuck: Stacie Orrico Are You Happy Now: Michelle Branch Hate Everything About You: Ugly Kid Joe
Tonia2 Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 For wallowing - Ryan Adams, Harder now that its over Jeff Buckley
Stone Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 This verse from Limp Biskit Rearanged Life is overwhelming Heavy is the head that wears the crown I’d love to be the one to disappoint you when I don’t fall down But you don’t understand when I’m attempting to explain Because you know it all and I guess things will never change But you might need my hand when falling in your hole Your disposition I’ll remember when I’m letting go OH and I WILL SURVIVE
Lonestar Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 OH and I WILL SURVIVE Yes! That's a classic "get over a breakup" song.
amytct Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 "Just like a pill," by Pink. "And I swear, you're just like a pill. Instead of making me better, keep making me ill." Perfect in my situation (dumpee)

jasondotcom Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 I've got a whole playlist of them on my iPod...trying not to listen to them so much now though! They're mostly good for when you want to wallow in it! I have to put in a second vote for both: Coldplay's - The Scientist "it's such a shame for us to part"; and The Cranberries - Linger "you got me wrapped around your finger, do you have to let it linger" Other good ones are: Cyndi Lauper - When you were mine "I love you more than when you were mine" U2 - Kite "Something Is about to give; I can feel it coming; I think I know what it is....I want you to know; That you don't need me anymore" Moby - At least we tried "Oh my baby, don't cry; Oh my baby at least we tried" Faithless - Don't go "where did all the love go, where's the love gone to, don't leave" Placebo - Every Me Every You "Another love I would abuse, no circumstances could excuse" Sinaed O'Connor - Jealous "You don't know how hard it is to be a woman in love with you; When you're so cruel, and so jealous; You don't think about anybody's feelings but your own; Are you coming home?" Siouxie and the Banshees - Last Beat Of My Heart "Reach out your hands; Don't turn your back; Don't walk away" U2 - Stuck In A Moment "Oh love, look at you now; You've got yourself stuck in a moment; And you can't get out of it" Yazoo - Nobody's Diary "I can't believe you want to turn the page, and move your life onto another stage" I've got dozens of 'em, but that's probably enough for now!
