katinlc Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 (edited) So while I'm sitting here at work waiting for my computer to do a software upgrade and browsing LS, I thought I would throw this question out there. I'm doing the whole OLD thing and have moved to texting with a few guys. Well, today two different ones sent me a text that said "miss me"? My first thought was "huh". Then I realized I didn't text with one yesterday and it had been a few hours since I talked to the other one. My response was "how can I miss someone I've never met?" which didn't seem to go over to well. I get it's an attempt at playful, flirty banter, but it just seemed stupid to say yes I miss someone I've only text with a couple days and haven't met yet. So do you think this is stupid to ask or is it just me? I just don't get the point, but since I got two today from different guys, it obviously makes sense to them. Or to expand on this thread, what's some other silly things you've heard when talking with men/women online that you haven't met yet? Edited July 3, 2014 by katinlc
haribogumsnickers Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 You already know these guys are trying to be cute but it's actually pathetic to do so that soon. I know exactly what you're feeling. If you're bored then play along with some cutesy emoticons and no words. Those guys are more receptive to images than text. Remember, don't use proper punctuation and grammar.
Gaeta Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 I get that often with men I start dating. I hate that. I think it's an ego boost. Nothing good ever came out of a man sending these <miss me>. I remember dating someone that sent me a 'I miss you'. I felt on top of the world ! Finally it was about missing me and not about me missing them.

Diezel Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Or to expand on this thread, what's some other silly things you've heard when talking with men/women online that you haven't met yet? "I'm pregnant and it's yours." 2
Assasda Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Pitiful and needy, Its a good way to weed them out on OLD, I guess. Other things that are needy "How are you?" - when they barely know you
FitChick Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 (edited) "How are you?" - when they barely know you A good retort might be "Why do you ask?"or "Do you care?" Most people ask "How are you?" out of habit and not because they give a damn. One of my pet peeves! As for the 'did you miss me' question, I'd answer, "Why? Where did you go?" Keenly Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Other things that are needy "How are you?" - when they barely know you That isn't needy, that's called making conversation. 2
R3d Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Asking, "How are you?" is now needy? What has this world become?
MissBee Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 It's lame and corny. I hate it. Unless you are my boyfriend, don't use that as a way to flirt. It's very awkward more often than not. It makes you seem lame and needy. If I missed you I would have volunteered the info so don't put me in an awkward position by asking. Likewise, I'd never text some guy I don't know that. Even my own bf, I only say it to him in person, jokingly, if I go do something for a few minutes like go downstairs to the laundry room and come back...but I don't text him that. 1

They like the idea that there is ANOTHER girl thinking of them.
preraph Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 I think it's just flirty/teasy. Once you actually begin to miss them, they'll be all, Jeez, you're clingy. Sigh.
Assasda Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Notice how all the women respond to "How are you?" hahahaha Needy trash - Now you know
MissBee Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 The real underlying question; what's with girls never missing guys? Are we really that replaceable? That's not the real issue. Stop. Girls miss men they are actually invested in OR actually in a relationship with, not random men they text. I miss my boyfriend when he's not around. I DO NOT miss some man I just gave my number to on a dating site and who I've been texting and haven't texted for one day....and sure as heck wouldn't text a man asking if he missed me if the extent of our relationship was one of texting.
d0nnivain Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 I don't think it's needy in a bad way per se. The person who asked is looking for some sort of reassurance that you like them too & noticed the lack of contact. Yes, it's not the smoothest thing in the world. It's just sort of an awkward conversation starter. Don't over analyze it. 1
Baller25 Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 The real underlying question; what's with girls never missing guys? Are we really that replaceable? How can a girl miss a guy that always makes himself too available with too much contact? If a guy ever asks "miss me?", "are you having a good time?" or "when are you free?" then that means he's a beta faggot. I know because I was a beta fag many years ago.
