My boyfriend and I have a great relationship. We talk every morning on the phone, I know all his friends and he knows mine, I'm close with his family, we let each other know what we're doing, when we fight it's usually productive and we don't get ugly with each other, and we're really close. He's my best friend, we go to each other about everything, and we can count on each other. I really love him. We've been together 2 1/2 years, and I've never seen anything that looks like a hicky on his stomach unless I leave it there. Recently, I found a couple marks that look pretty suspicious, and I didn't leave them. He is a mechanic so it could be bruises, but these bruises sure look like hickies. His behavior hasn't changed or anything, so I don't want to ask him and make him think I don't trust him. I have been cheated on in past relationships so me being paranoid is not out of the question. I'd just like to know if I'm being stupid or if I should worry.

ask him in a casual tone of voice what the mark is and how he got it, don't sound like you are making an accusation, just a casual query.

his reaction will most likely give him away - if he is lying he will hesitates as he needs time to come up with a story as to what they are. if he is telling you the truth he will tell you instantly!

Where are these bruises? Hands? Arms? Legs? Buttocks? Neck?

You could be a bit paranoid, but you can just casually ask what happened to him, where did he get the bruises.

The marks are on his chest, and they have shown up two separate times in about the same spot on his chest.

I would give him the benefit of the doubt. as a mechanic he would be under engines all the time with oil dripping and all kinds of metals and things that he could have an allergic reaction to.

cheating happens a lot less than the media makes out, simply because people dont want to risk losing what they have.

but still, ask him in a casual voice how he got the marks - if he hesitates or gets a worried look on his face, instead of answering immediately in a casual voice, well something may be up.

Ok. I'll just ask him about it. I tend to be paranoid because of past relationships, but I've always been able to trust him, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
