Well, I know a lot of it is fakery so it doesnt get me down to much. Some of it is funny, actually. I see strained expressions of boyfriends and husbands forced to take pics to make the oh happy. If you look really close, you can see it, too!!!

Tell me about it. Just about a week ago, one of my friends returned from a year-long trip to France and he posted all these great photos (he's a photographer), even a well-edited video.

To OP, Facebook doesn't bother me. I only use Facebook as a communication tool actually for those I cannot reach with a cell phone for whatever reason. The statuses do not bother me and neither do the relationship updates.

Then again I do not compare myself to others so I wouldn't expect Facebook or any other social media to be an issue.

At least he waited until he got home to do it!

Actually on the contrary, there were pictures now and then throughout his trip but the video/full album wasn't posted until he came home. :p

He has an absolutely crazy passion for photography so the pictures of France and the various places he visited around there were absolutely stunning. If anything though, those pictures got me more excited than sad. I don't have the chance right now but I know that within 5 years, I plan on going at some point.

Also as mario_C pointed out, you could unfollow the people who do annoy you if you want. I've only done it with one person but that's because she posts a status about her boyfriend practically once or twice every day so it always flooded my news feed.

Not anymore. I decided to waste a few minutes of my time looking through recent posts, and almost all of those were selfies. And those always intend to make someone look happy/positive in any possibility, really.

Yes, it is mostly selfies.

Everyday selfies selfies selfies.

Brb gotta poop lemme take a selfie.

brb eating meal ive had a dozen times lemme take a selfie

Why the need for so many? They look the same as they did 24hrs ago.

My fav selfies are the ones in which the individual is pretending to model a new shirt/dress/whatever item, but just so happen to snap their, ahem, assets. :lmao:

Sounds like you need a selfie. Make sure you're in front of your bathroom mirror to optimize the photograph. I'm selfie-ing myself right now. Ahhh, much better.

It's funny that I came across this thread...

I normally don't bother creeping other people's FB profile anymore BUT I do have a friend who is one of those FB junkies and posts countless memes, messages, and scads of photos of everything and anything including her family and hubby which always end up on the top of my stream (now that I'm thinking about it, it's time to update my preferences).

She's a wonderful person and always struck me as someone who had this idyllic life and marriage. Everything about her situation just seemed so perfect, like she won the happy lottery in life while the rest of us struggle for a nugget of what she seemed to have. I'm sure you know people just like this.

Well, don't I open my FB account on Monday and found a message from her written at 4:21 a.m. It was clearly an email written in desperation and rambled on about how she found out her husband's been cheating on her but won't admit to it, how she is going crazy thinking about all the years together with him and how many of those were lies, how he's making HER out to be the crazy one even though she has proof of his indiscretions etc...

I contacted her immediately and of course, she was distraught. During our chat, she revealed to me that her husband has been abusing her and not just once but during their entire marriage! Mostly verbal and emotional but when he drank, he sometimes became physically violent with her.

Anyways...

The moral of the story is that nothing is ever what it seems on the surface.

In fact, I often question those people who parade their entire life online for all to see.

Why exactly?! I don't get it but then again maybe because I've been around long enough and have seen many things to know better.

If you ask me, it just feels like they're trying WAY too hard to impress a bunch of people they probably don't ever talk to or even know well anyway.

I'm sure it's exhausting always appearing to be so "happy".

Just my two cents :)

I hate the way people use facebook. I just take the stupid people off.

The last selfie I saw was a reblog on tumblr.

Showed a girl naked smirking stupidly into the camera she was holding while a guy was doing her from behind. Her face wasn't even censored.

I'll never understand what makes people post so much crap.

Everytime I go on facebook I look at some friends facebook or people that I know and the majority of the time its of them posting a picture of their boyfriends/husbands, engagement, wedding photos, etc, etc. Looking at that, gets me down, because I don't even anything close to a boyfriend, not near walking down the aisle anytime soon. Does anyone feel this way? I just need to stop facebooking and get out more. I'm hoping there will be a day when I'm in a relationship and I can post hundreds of pictures with my boyfriend and show the world that I'm happy.

I disagree with Facebook because the whole entire world don't really need to know about each other's businesses. I think we can do better without it.
