I'm talking to this girl I met online, she lives 20 min from me.

We exchanged numbers and text here and there. We met once and she texted after we hung out a little so it seems it's going ok?

I haven't dated in almost 10 years, so I'm a bit clueless.

Is it bad to text early in the day? Is it bad.to text everyday?

Please help me out, I don't want to scare her away etc..

When was your date?

Have you invited her out on a second date yet?

There is no rules on texting. Each person has its own style. Some like each day, others not to much. If you find her interesting then get busy scheduling a second date. The plan is to get to know her while spending time together face to face.

It wasn't so much a date we just hung out at my work for like 20 minutes (she just got off work).

We did schedule a coffee date in a few days, so I'm excited about that.

Yeah I want to text her and whatnot, guess I'll hold back haha.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I was in a 7 year relationship with a guy who texted me NONSTOP. When I was thrust back into the dating world after this, I had so much damn anxiety over texting. I feel sorry for the guys I dated after him because I held them to my exes' expectations and was paranoid when they didn't text me.

But... it has been over a year and I have dated different guys with different texting habits. Here's my advice:

I think your relationship should exist mainly in person. Use text to plan the next dates or keep up a bit inbetween dates, but not to get to know eachother via text. I became really turned off when a guy would text too much too early on. I'm dating a guy now and he will send one text a day (more if planning a date). This is fine. I guess just kinda go with the flow and see her style and try to match it??

Thanks abby, that is great advice.

I'm a habitual texter... don't know why, I rack up 3000 texts a month... mostly friends out of state.

So should I wait for her to text?

We've exchanged about 20 texts a day, would 20 to 0 a day make her think anything?

Oh, in that case I would definitely keep texting to a minimum so you don't scare her off.

Hmm... I guess if you already have had a habit of texting each other that often, then don't go cold turkey or it would look weird. Ignore my last post! But I'd just match her texting. Maybe let her text first today?

I'm going to not text her today or tomorrow, see if she notices.

I'm doing this because I realize I was given the 'pat on back' hug.
