No matter how you slice it this was a terrible date. Probably the worst first date ive ever had.

1. She showed up in sweat pants and a hoodie to an upscale place that i had taken the time to make reservations for and find under a block to her place so she could drink without worry about driving (the date was drinks). I wearing dress slacks and nice shoes and a button up irridescent shirt. She was in runners.

2. We sit down, order our drinks and im looking at the menu. She says shes not very hungry and im not either so i suggest the cheese plate so were not drinking without eating (she did order scotch and i ordered rum). She said that would be fine.

3. The conversation was terrible. I was trying to get her to taste some of the food just to get her talking. Contrary to above no i wasnt pushing it on her or anything. This was some seriously gourmet cheese and the peices werent even that big. She grabbed a few of one of the types and it mostly felt like she wanted to leave before she even got there. I was 5 minutes early, so was she, so it wasnt like i let her wait around. I didnt get foot in mouth disease at all.

4. The bull**** with the bill. I mean first i offered to pay the whole bill then she leaves when its card time, i have to guess what she wants because she insists on paying then shes beaking off over a difference of $8 plus tip. I bet if i asked the waitress to refund everything so we could start all over again this chick would have been cool with that. If it was an extra $20 on her bill or something i could see but eight bucks? Thats a cup of coffee at starbucks whatever.

5. Leaving me in the rain after i walked her home was lame. Understandable but lame. Even letting me in the lobby would have been enough.

I dont understand why she even went with that attitude. Maybe she was half drunk drinking scotch at home before the date scotch is pretty hard as a starter. I lined up the reservation at 1 oclock she could have just cancelled. Not like she was in it for the free drinks.

not good traits to show on a first date almost like self sabotage on her behalf.....yuck.....showing the wort possible traits in regards to money and sharing bills....i would suggest it wont get any better the more you know her.....if a guy did this to me and made comments about the bill and it rarely has happened in fact cant remember one case...i would walk and say see ya ....i wish you well ...no second date.....deb

Her number is already deleted.

It's worth a try! OP does work in sales.

True. And a girl with those kind of dating manners might not have been laid in a long time.

Maybe. Never know. Other than cancelling that first date to reschedule, there wasnt much more interaction for her to dislike me over. But sometimes women get turned off by some bizarre things. Maybe it was because i took the train and showed up in a cab, who knows, but driving across town in thick traffic to go for drinks isnt exactly bright either. Could be a tire biter.

Enigma is right, she wasn't feeling it and that's probably why she only ordered a drink (she was probably intending to eat, this place WAS a restaurant, right?) - let me guess, she tried to rush things after that? "Well I better get going" after her drink? That she even tried to pay for so you didn't feel used, because she wasn't going to be seeing you again.

After sitting down she did not want to be there. You however, being the nice guy, tried to win her over but that wasn't happening.

I've been there bro, both sides of the coin, when I don't want to be there and a couple times they don't. You go into "lets get out of here as quickly as possible mode" and chalk it up as a bad match and find another chick to date.

Oh, never, EVER send any texts after a date like that. When a date goes well, you'll know it. There is no crawling back from a date that you explained.

Actually ive had some great dates where the girl insisted on paying half each time. Still sleeping with that one a few times a month.

I get that she wanted to only pay for her scotch, but that was not at all apparent when im standing with the server and shes not there and ive got to come up with a number. I did discuss ordering the cheese plate with her before it was ordered. TBH during that conversation at no point was i under the impression that she wanted nothing of it.

I dont know why women make such big deals about who pays and why. When that girl offered to pay half then came home and slept with me i knew i found a keeper. In OLD its always a risk as a guy that your just getting soaked for the free meal, im sure there are women who dont ever buy their own dinner on these sites. When the girl offers to pay half or whatever it takes that concern off the table. We are in 2014, arent we?

I think you fancy yourself a bit of a player and she wasn't playing so your feelings got hurt when she didn't put out...lol sure she doesn't sound like a easy going girl. But sorry OP you also kind of make yourself sound like a wominiser no offence just saying with how you talk about women in general like pieces of meat..

Na, the date was specifically for drinks so i didnt read much into her not wanting much in the way of food. Honestly i dont think she wanted to be there in the first place, i dont think she even had an open mind about anything upon arrival. Didnt even smile when i greeted her at the front door, and the weak attire for an upscale place collaborates that.

If she had any intention of trying to make a decent impression she did a piss poor job. Could have very much been like another poster said, cancelling the first date pissed her off, thats when she got weird. Maybe she figured id stand her up.

I know cancelling a first date is bad form, but i had my reasons. Travelling an hour return to.see someone for 30-45 minutes because they neglected to communicate their availability would be like me asking how high when she said jump before the first date. I would have organized it earlier if i knew her whole afternoon was booked up and i wasnt about to bail on my friend for her either.

I didnt have high hopes for her or anything just seriously the lamest date ive probably ever had. Haggling over 8 bucks? Have a little class if you demand to pay.

Could you imagine if the roles were reversed and you were the one haggling over the 8 bucks? You would be called all sorts of cheapskates and losers!

No doubt. I bet the waitress was quietly thinking, "wtf is with this bitch, arguing over how much of the cheese platter she ate when the bill comes"
