gaybo Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 I'm a gay male in a 1yr realtionship with another guy. We're both still in the closet. I'm thinkin about breakin it off. I'm still havin fun, i guess, but I'm not really hyped to see him or talk to em anymore. I'm thinkin more bout comin out to some of my closer friends, and maybe meetin other gay guys. My bf's having some trouble at school (uni) and his parents are pretty anti-gay, and so he's typically in and out of depressive bouts... I'm a lil worried that breakin up with him might seem kinda outta the blue, and might really send em down. I know i should think about me first, but i really like this guy... I guess i just dont feel a "forever" thing comin outta this. Your thoughts?
SoleMate Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 It's your decision (duh). Yes, you do have to be responsible for yourself, not him. I don't recommend staying in a r/s forever just to avoid hurting the other person. Any breakup of an intimate relationship will hurt - for him and for you. Avoiding all pain is not a realistic goal. Maybe it would be better to try to avoid unnecessary pain.
