Teknoe Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Don't keep feelings bottled in... it's bad for your health in more ways than one. I was reminded earlier tonight that we should speak what's on our hearts, peacefully of course and always with tact but... yeah, don't keep your real feelings hidden inside. Find someone to share it with face to face. It can really heal your soul. And for those currently with a crush on someone, ask that person out. The worst is no. Live with no regrets. Don't wonder "what if I had asked him or her out?" That's my encouragement to someone today who needed to hear a message like this. We get one life, and right now, this present moment is all we're sure of. Tomorrow isn't promised to any one of us. Whatever you need to get out of your system, or whatever you need to do to take that next step in your life... don't let fear stop or cripple you. Go for your dreams, or at least go out swinging. Life goes on. Do something courageous and bold and loving today. Bless a loved one, or bless even a stranger with a warm smile or compliment. Let's make this Friday the 13th a GOOD one. 8
scooby-philly Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Two quotes your post made me think of... 1- Ken Robinson (educator/creativity expert/ most watched TED talk of all time) - he was quoting Van Gough or Picasso- who said we are all born artists.... "We are all born creative, and then get educated out of it" (Having worked in k-12 education and now in corporate training my heart sinks at the crap considered education in companies) 2 - From Jim Carey's now viral commencement speech in May 2014 - describing his father - who was apparently funny but didn't think he could make it as a comic - so he chose a "safe" path as an accountant and then was fired when Jim was 12 and their family struggled to make ends meet for several years... "I learned a great deal from my father...not the least of which was you can fail at what you don't want...so you might as well try what you love". Neither of these really have to deal with speaking our minds, but I think the underlying issue - fear of failure, not conforming, not being "social", polite, etc. etc. etc. kills us in ways we don't understand.
writergal Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Reminds me of that Rolling Stones song, "You Can't Always Get What You Want." The chorus fits well... You can't always get what you want But if you try sometimes you just might find You just might find You get what you need 1
Author Teknoe Posted June 18, 2014 Author Posted June 18, 2014 scooby, heh thanks for sharing that. actually, the inspiration for my original post comes from a program called "Legends' House." Now I know everyone has their varying opinions on the topic of professional wrestling, but I grew up watching it, and so a lot of these guys I saw in my youth when they were in their prime. The concept of Legends' House is 8 old wrestling legends living under the same roof for however many months. Toward the end, Pat Patterson opened up and it really touched my heart. Reminding me that life is too short not to be real.
contact1 Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 I'd speak my mind more freely, but here in LA, I'd probably get shot for saying what I thought 2
