I graduated from college not even a full month ago. I moved back home and am living with my parents and serving part-time. I'm very unhappy. I waitressed at the same restaurant before I went to school, and now I'm back there and I just feel like I've made no real progress in my life from two years ago. Most of my friends are moved in with their boyfriends and have real jobs. Since breaking up with my ex, he's had a lot of success in his life, which also makes me feel really bad about where I am.

I feel like I went from doing very poorly after a bad breakup to doing very well while being in school, and now I just sort of feel like I'm slipping back into a sort of depression.

Eeh. Just wanted to vent! :bunny:

I understand where you are coming from. Why don't you make yourself a success like everyone you see around you? Are you aggressively searching for a job in your chosen field?

I know it's hard going through a change I think it would be weird to not experience a little bit of depression after graduation especially if things don't go as you plan. But luckily you can become anything you want so just pursue your dreams and fill your time with making yourself the person you want to be.

For me, anytime I went back and lived with my parents was a bad time. Not because of them, but because it made me feel like a child not in control of his life.

Get a better job or go to grad school. Move out. Exercise. Make more friends. Find new hobbies. Don't settle for anything but your best.

I'm in a similar boat. Although I lived on my own with my husband for 7 years. Financial difficulties set us back when I lost my job 3 months after graduating college. We're still struggling, because we don't have stable income to rent an apartment. I was working a few temp jobs, but I am back to working part time and my husband is only working full time while his coworker is on maternity leave. I have a professional job with decent pay, but I wish it was full time. I don't want to jump from job to job, so I'm looking for another part time gig or contract work. Jobs aren't easy to come by for new grads these days, but take steps to gain experience to get to where you want to go.
