Hi, I usually read/post in the Transitioning or Dating discussions. I've noticed that when the post has the words "girl" or "guy" in the 1st sentence & the thread goes on far enough to where the poster reveals their age, it's always a teen or 20 something. These discussions are valid but I can always tell the maturity level relating to age just from that 1st sentence. It seems to me that when you refer to someone you're so intense & confused about as a guy/girl, then you really are not ready for a "relationship" at any level but friends. I guess this is a result of my own age (over 40)? Does anyone else notice it too?

Actually, you can tell the level of maturity of anyone in the way they write. Not just in the headline, but even in the comments.

But I guess Guy/Girl is substitute for putting the person's name? Or perhaps said person is not a boyfriend/girlfriend/fiancee/hubby/wife yet and the person making the thread is not in a position to call them that. So what's left but Guy/Girl...

If someone post a thread "Jerry is ignoring my calls!! Help!", most people's initial reaction would be "Who the heck is Jerry?". So the term Guy/Girl is being used instead... informal and less personal. Maybe? Who knows.

But hey, even teens have love issues!

Oh, I forgot to mention any post where the 1st sentence has "this chick" or "this dude", that's pretty telling of where the poster's at in terms of age and quality time spent w/the opposite sex, too.
