Mostly on the internet. I remember this started happening post 2009. I have nothing against these men as I am also one of them.

The internet & forums like these gave men the outlet to discuss sensitive issues like this anonymously. Once a few made the disclosure it was easier for others to share. It's hard to tell your buddies this especially if you have one of those friends who constantly brags about his sexual conquests.

The Number of Virgins hasn't actually changed. Only the number of men willing to admit it.

It's the only place to say it without being ridiculed by the very experienced guys IRL. I figure when I'm done with college, there is a chance I might still be one. Not that I have a problem going out into the dating world again but it's not like sex is gonna happen right away if you get a gf esp if you want a quality girl with standards. Assuming it's a girl that wants a sexual relationship and not a religious one that wasted part of my youth (only to get dumped), you still have to wait a couple months till it happens.

Some of us don't want to just sleep around like crazy; it's just that media and the locker room conversation makes it sound like we want to sleep with tons of women. We just want to meet girls, go out into the dating world, make one of the girls become our gf and living a happily sexual relationship.

So yes, unless I were to magically get a relationship immediately and she's right into sex within a short time (not a girl I won't see again) I might graduate from college still being a virgin.

My thoughts exactly.

Being able to say things anonymously lets many people say things that they would never say in real life. Or at least they would only say it to people they really trust.

Safety.

Back in my generation, that would be another excuse for a pummeling, you know, to 'toughen' the virgin up. TBH, I never did figure out why young people could be so cruel. I concluded, perhaps erroneously, that they were socialized that way. Anyway, it was safer to keep one's mouth shut. Nowadays, typing 'virgin' on a keyboard relatively anonymously, comparatively, is like having a Secret Service detail watching one's butt.
