LOSTnMT Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 A friend of mine wants to ask this girl out that he has been working on for a few weeks and he says he is going to ask her to go to a wedding with him. He hasn't met her just online stuff and texting. I told him it was a horrible idea to do something like a wedding for a first date and he just downplays it saying chicks dig weddings. Am I wrong for thinking this is a bad idea to start a relationship? Not sure why but this just seems really awkward to me and wanted to see if I am in the minority on this?

That's just strange. I think I'd be a little weirded out if I was talking to a guy for a couple weeks and then he asked me out on a first date to someone's wedding. I mean, I guess I wouldn't totally write a guy off if I really liked him, but it would be odd nonetheless. I might even decline and say let's do something another time, so he shouldn't be too surprised if that's the response he gets. 1

If I were paying for the wedding then I'd find it quite rude for him to bring someone he's never met at my expense; sure a +1 is a +1 but to me a +1 means an established partner, not random person off the internet. She's not going to know anyone except him, and will likely be stuck at speeches etc listening to things and talking to people she knows nothing about. Yes chicks dig weddings but best to meet some there rather than take one who doesn't know anyone else.
